Just read this. Interesting given the talk we heard prior to XB1 launch that the PS4 was vastly outselling the XB1 preorders.

InfoScout issued its combined console sales estimates for Walmart and Target and found that not only did Xbox One unit sales top the PlayStation 4, Xbox 360 sales did as well.

The firm’s polling found that consumers cited “too much hype” and high game prices among the top reasons for passing on the PlayStation 4, while the lack of any must-have games was a big complaint among those who did not purchase the Xbox One.

I've also read that the lack of PS4 inventory could cause some of this as well...

Agreed. I don't think anyone can get a good sense of the "console war" based upon Black Friday. Can't really say for several months at least.

I soon will have both consoles so this sort of thing doesn't matter to me.

As an owner of both consoles I love the distinct differences, but one of the few cons for the One so far would be the disconnect I feel from my friends list. On the PS4 It feels like we are all in the same room gaming and hanging out - I just don't get that same feeling when I am on the One. Other than that, enjoying both systems very much and they have both ran flawlessly for me from day one.

I only got my X1 yesterday but I had today off work and played it a lot these past 2 days.

Pro's: The Snap feature is awesome. (Is there a way to get audio from the game and not TV?). I was able to play games while having the Broncos and Chiefs on as well. Also was able to watch a game and have my fantasy football team stats on the side constantly being updated and keeping me in the loop so I didn't have to keep checking my phone or computer. As everyone else has said, plugging other media outlets right into my X1 and not having to switch inputs is great (although not a big deal, I could easily switch outlets…I'm not THAT lazy).

Cons: Not being able to install more than 1 thing at a time. The system is a MONSTER and takes up a ton of space. I have no Xbox friends yet (not a con of the system just stating it). I actually don't like the controller but it may grow on me. Also, it may just be me, but the voice commands are hit or miss.

The PS4

Pros: Runs flawless, the stream option is very fun to use, as is the share button for images (just check out the Madden and NBA 2K photogenic threads). Good lineup of free indie games and also being able to swap out the HDD and make it whatever size you please.

Cons: The headset/mic that came with it is garbage, and doesn't work very well with any game (at least the ones I have). The touchpad is also hit or miss.

Cons Overall: deciding which system to buy games for that are Multi-Plat.
Pros Overall: Access to every game.

Sony was launching in europe honestly as you could tell their marketing campaign here wasnt as strong since they did sell their launch million in the US.

I own both nod zero cons with either system. I play more ps4 but that's due to me having NSF, madden and nba on the 4.

Well that is just a matter of opinion, and everyone one has one. I prefer the PS4 for my own personal reasons, but can completely understand how one could prefer the One also - I spend 80% of my time on the PS4 and 10% on the One, and 10% on my gaming PC -

Question for you guys with both systems.....

In terms of gaming online/friends/community.

Which system does a better job of....

- seeing what your friends are playing
- jumping in and playing with them
- actually watching what there're playing
- taking/sharing/viewing gameplay clips
- general/ease of communication with your friends while playing online.
- performance of games online (talking about multi platforms games)

At the end of the day, this is what I'm looking for when it's all said and done.

I believe I read in previous post that the PS4 had a better sense of "community" while the bone friends list is kinda tucked away on the UI ??

Yeah i would say the PS4 is better in that sense overall Mintsa. I love the XB1 mobile app and IMHO it is much better than the PS4 app. However, the gaming experience is that much more "focused" on the PS4.

On the XB1 I can watch TV, play a game and chat with friends... While on the PS4 I would rather stream my play session or watch someone else's.

I find myself doing more watching than playing on the XB1. Heck, I still have FIFA in the shrink wrap because I think I would rather play it on the PS4.

I just really hate you can only share game clips on Facebook. With the XB1 once I upload something it can be seen directly in the apps. And it looks phenomenal.

Ok. Thanks for the info. Thats quite the change from last gen. I didn't get that from the PS3 (but my 360 kept RRoD so I had no choice).

Sorry for all the questions. I don't have the money to get both systems like before (i've always had both systems, from back to the nintendo/sega master system days). I only got on shot at this, I cant flip flop later on. I just have to get all my bases covered before pulling the trigger.

I think for myself, as time goes on the X1 stuff like PiP Tv, voice commands will grow stale after awhile and at the end of the day I'll just want to game (the way I described above). Either way. I'm not pulling the trigger just yet but as the dust is settling its becoming clearer.

In terms of friends, neither system alerts you when your friends log in. This is great for people with hundreds of friends, but if you only have 5 or 10, it's kind of a bummer.

Seeing what friends are online for me is kind of a wash. If you push the PS button, you can see your number of friends online on the top row. If you push the Xbox button, you can see that same number on the left panel.

PS4 of course has live Twitch streaming whereas the One does not (yet).

One feature I like in the X1 is that if I go to a game in the store, I can see what clips my friends have uploaded from that game.

With the PS4, you can take screenshots. I have no idea why the X1 is lacking this feature.

The X1's Upload Studio has more options than the PS4, but it must remain open while you upload something, which irks me a bit. PS4 does its thing in the background. This is one of the reasons why I chose Madden on the PS4, because that's the game I'll probably be saving clips from most often. Also, the PS4 DVR automatically saves the last 15 minutes. The X1's saves the last 5. On the other hand, PS4 videos only upload to facebook, whereas X1 uploads to Skydrive (and thus to my computer).

Both mobile apps let you message your friends and see what they're doing at any given time. The PSN app lets you queue downloads, and I don't think the Smartglass app does (I could be missing it though). The advantage the Smartglass app has is that you can watch shared videos on it.
