Shoot even gaming sites get paid on some fronts too and even in critical ones they say things off record that they dont say in videos lol.

Im a guy so if I want something most of the time my mind is usually made up, I just look for details to be sure its worth the investment.

Exactly...their opinions aren't going to sway me, I just look for details as well...

I can't stand some of the crappy channels out there though, don't understand how some of these people get popular.

So EA has the NCAA lawsuit, Battlefield investigation, and now this I think they should just announce everything they are doing that is unethical and start fresh.

Alot of people are persuaded țhrough youtube though. One thing about this day and age alot of people are into personalities just as much as quality. There is alot of quality out there but also alot of profiteering and these corporations are spending money on it and sending free products to people because it's cheaper than most traditional methods and it works.

            Honest question.
What is a youtuber? I've watched LPs on YouTube, same thing?

Anybody that uploads videos to Youtube A LOT. It don't have to be video games, it can be anything, even vlogging.

The analogy I've heard a couple times is that this is what happened/happens with fashion bloggers. Free clothes, or some sort of incentive.

Believe me it happens with more than just that. Whether its shoes, makeup, games, systems, clothes, electronics, you'd be shocked to know what company sends a bunch of stuff saying "review this for us" and how much is paid to some of these people.

Re: EA/Microsoft Paying Youtubers for Positive Promotion

If several companies are doing this across the board in different markets, is it that much of a concern or issue?

If it is that big of an issue to the powers to be, then fine the whole lot of them.

Glad I don't go to youtube for game reviews.

They would have to pay for a lot of positive videos to make up for that NBA Live Andrew Bynum Jesus video a couple years ago.

That one video singlehandedly put the killshot on the whole damn franchise lmao.

Re: EA/Microsoft Paying Youtubers for Positive Promotion

Paying for positive feedback is nothing new to the gaming industry. Companies pay for good reviews all the time so this is no surprise to me. I do not like it because it allows them to release broken garbage games and they can still get some good reviews and good sales because the big sites said it was good.

This industry is so frustrating sometimes. Like these companies like EA and M$ would rather shell out some cash to pay for positive feedback rather than shell out some cash to pay for quality dev teams or just allowing the teams they have the proper time to actually finish a game prior to it's release.

It's sad that they don't even try to hide the fact that they do not care at all about the people playing their games and only about how to make the most money.

I get it they are a business and need to make money but you don't see auto manufacturers taking shortcuts like you see in the VG industry at least not anymore. I mean automobiles are to the point you can go to any showroom and buy any brand new car and it is going to get you from point a to point b with no problems. Sure they might have recalls from time to time but quality has gone up so much that they are usually smaller problems.

Now this is mostly seen in the AAA sector of video gaming and not so much in smaller scale dev teams because they tend to not be pushed by a publisher and they also seem to take more pride in their work.

To me AAA gaming is akin to British Leyland in that they may have made lots of stuff but it's all poorly put together and is likely to fall apart.
