Re: E3 2014: Sony Conference
To my knowledge arkham knight was delayed to 2015.2015 is really shaping up to be a huge year. For the remainder of this year, I'm looking at Destiny, NHL '15, No Man's Sky, Arkham Knight, and perhaps some others depending on their release year.
I'm somewhat disappointed the trend this year was recycling games we've already played and moving them to the current generation. Yes there are improvements there, but it feels like "filler" content because they don't have much else to release now. Since I've already played these games, I don't necessarily want to pay another $60 just to go through the same experiences again with shinier graphics.
That said, the disappointment will be short-lived because as I mentioned, next year is looking superb.

Re: E3 2014: Sony Conference
Both press conferences were packed with third party non-exclusive games, but Sony's really felt like it was wall to wall stuff you can play on the PC or Xbox One. Most of Sony's exclusive games are so far down the road its hard to form an (objective)opinion on them.
The pacing was really strange as well. When they showed LBP3, the demo seemed to go on forever. It didn't help that the developers didn't seem to know how to play their own game. :PComment

Most anticipated is a four way tie: Bloodborne, Uncharted 4, No Man's Sky, and Rainbow Six Siege.Comment

PlayStation Now's open beta starts on July 31 for PS4 owners in the U.S. and Canada. It moves to PS3, Vita and Sony brand TVs sometime after that. 100 PS3 games will be available as part of the beta, including Ultra Street Fighter 4, God of War: Ascension and Dead Space 3.

Re: E3 2014: Sony Conference
I don't want to get into a console discussion, because there have been too many of those on here and I'm not really a fan boy of either. (Owned all previous Xbox consoles and Sony consoles)
But I think saying Microsoft now has a direction couldn't be any further from the truth.
I thought their showing felt like an attempt to catch up, and then Sony came in and put themselves 10 steps ahead. I feel like if you want the most bang for your buck (First party exclusives, Arcade games, Accessibility between devices etc), PS is the no brainer and they set themselves even further apart last night.
Just my personal opinion. Don't intend on swaying anyone's decision but I just feel Sony has so much more to offer from a gaming perspective. Probably why I decided to go with one this go around. (From owning a 360 first last gen)Cubs | Bulls | Dolphins | 'Noles

Re: E3 2014: Sony Conference
Nintendo > MS/Ubi > Sony > EA in terms of conference and "promise" for this year.
Obviously the third party games will look/perform better on the PS4... but I was so underwhelmed with their stupid presser this year. It was terrible, and by far the worst out of any of the 3 console makers.
However it did give a name to Project Beast (Bloodbourne) and more No Man's Sky (though it's not exclusive and will probably be played by more on PC) so it wasn't a total fail.badComment

Re: E3 2014: Sony Conference
They went from being Kinect integration/entertainment focused console, to completely shifting gears, removing Kinect from their package and dropping their price to stay competitive. How is that having a direction? That appears to be Microsoft hitting the panic button because of the overwhelming criticism and anemic sales figures.
At least at launch, whether it was received well or not, it had it's own identity.
But hey, as we have learned. To each their own.Cubs | Bulls | Dolphins | 'Noles

The direction may have changed but at least they are focusing on what matters now (games.)badComment

I don't see making a reactionary change in focus as "having a direction". They HAD a direction yes, and then they abandoned it in an attempt to remain competitive.Cubs | Bulls | Dolphins | 'Noles

Re: E3 2014: Sony Conference
Is that a bad thing though? You even said the direction they were in before yielded terrible results.
They shifted their direction onto games. They cut their lol device out of their package. Cut the price as thats what their target audience and market demanded. And now according to their conference all they want to shove down our throats is video games.
I really like the direction they are going in. I hope they make loads of cash directly because of this shift in focus.Comment

Re: E3 2014: Sony Conference
I certainly don't think it's a bad thing, especially for gamers. If you have two consoles dedicated to gaming, the consumer wins.Is that a bad thing though?

However, what you are saying, and what I was trying to say in regards to their change of heart, is not "having a direction" in my opinion. Their "direction" is being dictated by their competitor and consumer criticism. Not because that is what their vision was.
I think we are on the same page here, just interpreting it differently.Cubs | Bulls | Dolphins | 'Noles

They haven't abandoned anything, they listened to what people wanted and are now giving them the choice. They have a guy in Phil Spencer now who is listening and gets it.Texas Rangers/Saints/LSU/Tottenham Hotspur
