Please show me where he stated it was replaced.
They repaired once and after 2 days it broke again. Only other thing he did was take it back to sears and I believe got his money back or in store credit because Sony wouldn't replace it.
As far as his dealings directly with Sony, they did not replace it and that's what I was referring to.

Sony did replace it, that's how it works. You send in a console, they send you a different refurbished console.

He paid full price and got a new ps4, it broke and he chose to send it to Sony, at that point he is abiding by the warranty policies they have set forth. If that wasn't good enough, then it shouldn't have been sent in.

After going through 6, yes, 6 different xbox 360's with extended warranties, every unit I was given back was refurbished. I tried to demand one of those 6 different 360's a new 360. I was given the game Fable that was already out a few years with no trade in value.

So, yeah, that's how the system works.

              Mine too. Refurbished not new.

              As far as Sony:

IF THIS PRODUCT IS DETERMINED TO BE MATERIALLY DEFECTIVE DURING THE WARRANTY PERIOD, YOUR SOLE REMEDY AND SCEA’S SOLE AND EXCLUSIVE LIABILITY IS LIMITED TO THE REPAIR OR REPLACEMENT OF THIS PRODUCT WITH A FACTORY-RECERTIFIED PRODUCT, AT SCEA’S OPTION. For purposes of this Limited Hardware Warranty and Liability, "factory recertified" means a product that has been returned to its original specifications.

              And

These services may include the installation of the latest system software or firmware updates, or service or replacement of the PS4™ system’s system storage or the PS4™ system with a new or factory recertified product.

Still a **** way to do business in my opinion.
IF SAID PRODUCT IS FOUND TO BE FAULITY DURING THE FIRST 14 DAYS FROM PURCHASE, BUYER WILL RECIEVE A NEW UNIT UPON RETURN OF THE DEFECTIVE UNIT.

That's what a store's return policy is supposed to cover, you buy it from a reputable retailer and you have a couple weeks to a month depending on the retailer to return for replacement. Introducing exceptions and variables into the equation just gums up the works and creates space for scam artists. The process is quick and efficient for the reasons that it's as simple as possible, introducing variables make the process longer and more expensive.

They definitely did NOT replace the first system with a new one. I didn't take it back to Sears because I had Madden still in the console and didn't know how to get it out. Lack of research on my part because I think someone said there was an emergency eject?

I understand that there are scam artists out there. What I didn't originally mention is that I also work for Sears. I do loss prevention over there and completely understand scams and what lengths people would go. The kicker is if I didn't work there (told by the manager) they would not have refunded my system at all. Store policy is no returns on electronics. So tell me what else should I have done? Continue to send the system backike the other gentleman 6 different times receiving defective product after defective product?

Well at least thanks for double verifying that it wasn't replaced but rather supposed refurbished. And on a side note, yup scams alive and well no doubt! It's kinda like ppl that complain about the price of insurance but yet given the chance to (stick it to the man) so to speak they jump on that band wagon. Hmm wonder why insurance prices are expensive. One part of me would just love to be an insurance investigator!!

In such a short period of time of owning it I would have returned it to Sears and avoided Sony all together but that being said IMO Sony should replace the system brand new anything under 30 days old as long as it wasnt negligent user damage .

Good Luck OP that stinks and yes there customer service is horrible at best .

After this long situation I figured out a solution hahah. I didn't know I was able to buy visa gift cards with my sears gift card at sears. So I will be going to a different Sears store and eating the $5 charges on the Visa cards and hitting GameStop lol. Thanks guys for all your comments and lively discussion.

                            My Sony Playstation 4 Experience

I had a pretty similar experience with my Xbox one, I had a bad power supply and the problem was misdiagnosed so I couldn't play my new Xbox for over 40 days until they sent me a new power supply. After all the trouble and hours on the phone with customer service I think I only got like 2 extra months of XBL.

I actually just got off the phone with Microsoft customer support and I'm actually feeling pretty good about it. My Bluray only works when it feels like it(takes about 15-20 minutes to play any kind of disk) but my original warranty had expired. Normally I would have had to pay about $150 to get it fixed, they actually extended my warranty 90 because of all the issues I had had and they are going to do a swap with consoles. Granted I will have a $400 hold on my CC until I send my old console in but that doesn't bother me one bit

That's a terrible story. I understand how you feel about Sony customer service. I emailed them reporting that none of my three controllers get a decent signal, and my playstation is unplayable. They have not emailed me back. I phoned and was told to try resyncing my controller. They basically hung up on me after a few failed attempts.

They do not care, pal. It was a mistake buying Sony, imo. I might sell and get an xbone - I cant even play my PS4 and mine works!

The only thinking I see here I disagree with opinion wise is refurbished.

I have a refurbished xbox 360 that has worked flawlessly for 4 years, I have a refurbished laptop that still is working fine 3 years later and a refurbished 24 samsung lcd tv in my kitchen that is 4 years old and hasnt had one issue.

My feelings on refurbished are that these items actually go under closer scrutiny than factory produced new units do.
