Re: Pros and Cons of going to an all-digital game library

Certain games (During nice sales or the freebies) I'll get digital but that's about it.
There are games that I get that once I'm done .. I'm done, so it's nice to be able to throw them in a trade during good trade days to recoup some $ to throw to next game.
Maybe I'm cheap but grabbing new games for 30-40'ish bucks instead of 60 is my biggest like.
However all digital is convenient for sure, just not at the point for ME that it's worth 20.00 or more for that perk.

Obviously I'm all digital on PC but that's due to the great sales from CDKeys and STEAM etc..

I am a sucker for digital in that I can decide to impulse buy at work, make the purchase, and it'll be downloaded and ready-to-go by the time I get home. I will say though, I rarely buy a new release at $60. I will usually wait at least until it hits $40 before I buy. I don't mind missing out on the latest greatest for a couple months b/c I have PLENTY games to play in the mean time. I have a 2TB harddrive and it only has like 250GB left. Time for an external drive!! Lol

I have been the same way lately. I am a BB Gamers Club member but lately the deals on the PS Store have been unreal that I have just bought the digital version of the games from there. I usually prefer the physical but I do enjoy the convenience of buying online while at work and then its ready to play when I get home. I have about 500gb left on my 2tb. There are probably over 15 games I haven't even touched yet to play, so I definitely wait till something is discounted before I even purchase.

I buy mostly physical copies of my games, because I'm a Best Buy Gamers Club Unlocked member, so I never have to worry about paying $60 for a new game. Plus, you can double dip and save even more on most sales.

The only times I get a digital copy of a game is the free downloads on Xbox LIVE Gold when they put out the freebies, or if I get an Xbox card for Christmas like I did a couple of years ago.

I had gone all digital but switched back. Those impulse buys hurt when digital. I mean really hurt. They’re much easier to take with physical because if I buy a used title from GameStop and decide I don’t care for the game, I can return it within 7 days of purchase.

I've regretted purchases, but comes w/ the territory. Thankfully there's a digital return option on Xbox One, but I play few console games right now so I haven't really had an opportunity to try it yet.

I actually went digital late last year. For me, it's actually eliminated the impulse buys. I know I'm stuck with any game I buy now, so I'm a lot more picky.

Same for me, not having the option to trade it in, give it away or anything else means I seriously consider everything multiple times before I purchase.

Someone needs to work on a way for subscribers to still get a GCU type of benefit even for digital purchases.

Got my first try with the TGC2, and Microsoft was great about it. Tried the online return, but I played a few minutes over the 2 hour limit. Called up support and they gave me a refund easy peazy.

I've got a new Pro for going all digital. My house was broken into Aug 31st and they took my PS4 , PS4 pro, Xbox one Forza motorsport consoles. They also took the 14 games I had on disc. Fortunately the 70+ games I have on my External HD are still there. I hooked up my new Pro, had to wait two days for a new USB cable for the Hard Drive to arrive ( they took the cable but not the drive, drug addicts are morons) connected the drive and all my games were there waiting for me. I'll never buy another disc again.

Holy cow, well that's one I've never really thought about as well and definitely a huge pro in favor of going digital. Sorry to hear you had that happen but it is good that your games are (mostly) safe because of that!!

Was thinking of going digital for the One X. Never done that before, and I may still change my mind by the time I actually get it in my hands haha

My only issue is that you don't get discounts on digital or resale value... unless I'm wrong

If you wait long enough you can get great deals with Xbox live gold and ps+. Also, Xbox is working on allowing refunds for digital games. Hopefully that will be available in the near future on the Xbox
