Re: I have a confession to make: I don't finish games..

Well , I've finished a few games, Horizon Zero Dawn , still have some side missions but for the most part it's finished but I will always go back to this game, it's amazing. Finished Wolfenstein The Old Blood , COD WW2 , Beyond Two Souls - Great Game , Uncharted 4,.

The only way to do this for me is to start a game and play only that game until I finish it. With some game if I go away from them for a while I forget what was going on when I return. My list of game to finish is still huge but I'll get to them.
    Mass Effect Andromeda
    Hitman
    Mad Max
    Deus Ex
    The Witcher 3
    Metal Gear Solid V
Assassin's Creed - Syndicate , Unity, Black Flag, Freedom Cry
    Fallout 4
    Heavy Rain
    Game of Thrones
    Dying Light
    Shadow of Mordor
    The Walking Dead 1&2
    Until Dawn
    Ghost Recon Wildlands
The Divison - need help doing incursions on Xbox
    Mafia 3
    Just Cause 3
    Sniper Elite 3
Wolfenstein 2 - in the middle of this now , Wow!!!
    Forza Horizon 3
    Forza 7
    Sunset Overdrive
    Farcry Primal
    Alien Isolation
South Park The Stick of Truth

And of course by the time I get half way through these 50 more games will be out that I want to play.

Witcher 3 is great but i got a bit overwhelmed with it and haven't gotten back to it.
I need to break my "desire to do every side quest" mentality and more focus on main storyline in some of these games

This is why I don’t finish games. Side Quest always get in the way.

I've happily left 30-plus side missions on the table in Breath of the Wild, and I've been breezing past folks with the green exclamation point in Zero Dawn, as I'm just trying to finish the main story now.

Some side missions don't veer too far from the main story, so I usually try and do those but it's the ones that turn into a multi-step fetch quest (get me the 3rd blue diamond from the NW corner of the map) I'll move onto something else.

I don't normally do side missions on a lot of games just don't care about side missions most of the time my problem is I just don't have the time like I used to have to play games. With that said I am trying to do ever thing on BOTW even if the awards are not the best because I just love the game so much. I have 190+ hours now have still like 15 shrines left to do and a lot of side missions and most of the DLC still to do to. Not sure how many side missions I have left.

Re: I have a confession to make: I don't finish games..

I made a liberating decision yesterday. I deleted/uninstalled Horizon Zero Dawn, GTA 5, Bloodborne, Witcher 3, GOW, and Halo 5. Only two of those games were physical games (Horizon Zero Dawn and GTA 5). I traded them in to Best Buy which I will put towards The Show 19.

I was probably 90 percent finished with Horizon Zero Dawn but it had become more of a grind rather than an enjoyment. I could care less about the side quests. Also, the story bored and confused me.

GTA 5, while fun was just too overwhelming and time consuming. I simply did not have the time to commit to this game. I'm done with 30+ hour games.

The other games were AAA games that I magically thought I would enjoy (a couple of them were free games), but they're simply not games I find interesting anymore. Zombies, sci-fi, medieval, etc. no longer appeal to me. I'd rather sit back and enjoy an engrossing show on Netfilx than a story based game I really could care less about.

There of course are a few exceptions. Games like BOTW, Mario Odyssey, Ratchet and Clank are games that I have thoroughly enjoyed playing. I hope Spiderman and TLOU2 light that interest for me. I'm happy that there are still a couple games a year that have that "magic" that I grew up loving.

I first became a gamer because I loved sports games. I plan on refocusing and playing more sports and racing games (quick pick up and play) that I can hop in and out of within 30 minutes. And not feel like I still have countless of hours remaining to play a game that doesn't necessarily appeal to me.

I'm proud to say I don't finish games.... My backlog has gotten much smaller and it feels really nice!

Man, I feel like you jumped in my head and typed out exactly what I've been thinking. Crazy. I applaud the decision and seeing you put this out there makes it easier for me to go with my gut on this and make some changes to my own gaming library.

I currently have 57 games installed on my Xbox One X and 80 installed on my PS4 Pro. It's going to be years before I finish everything. I have now removed all Credit/Debit cards from my consoles. It had to be done, I just can't resist sales. Now I will concentrate on the games I have and hopefully hold off on buying new games for a while , although Farcry 5 may be hard to resist. Ugh....

I used to have this same problem when I was younger. Now, I focus on one campaign at a time. Like God of War, for example. I'll try and focus on that game for it's story/campaign, then move onto another game. If I get stuck, I put the game down for a while, then pick it back up later on.

When I was younger, I used to be so bad about just putting down games and not even bothering to play them again if I hadn't completed the story.

Like NinerFan now, I play one game at a time until im done with it. Trying to play multiple games at a time is a horrible decision for me as I end up not finishing any of them. Recent example - Nier Automata and Yakuza Zero. Both are in my backlog for 2019. LOL.

Its a shame I still haven't beaten that beautiful game called God of War on PS4 yet and I had it since its release.

That’s basically what I did by trading my Pro for an X. I fell into (all OS’s fault) this pattern of buying all the new games and barely playing any of them. Walked away from several digital titles on PS4 and now have about 5 games (including M19) on the X.

Beat Divinity Original Sin 2 this weekend with 3 friends after 98 hours. That and GTA5 last month I think are the only games I've beaten since this thread started.

I've gotten to the point with some games that as long as I finish the main story and some DLC if there is any I'm good. Still haven't finished the last DLC on The Witcher 3, may go back to it at some point. Assassins Creed Origins and God of War I finished the main story and I'm fine with that. Have played a little more on Assassins Creed after main story though.

I have the last Batman Arkham I haven't finished, haven't finished Batman Telltale, haven't finished the story in the last COD either and right now I have no desire to.

This was really a big problem for me in trying to go between The Witcher 3 and Assassins Creed Origins, I was also trying and wanting to climb everything in The Witcher because I was able to do it in ACO

Oh the main story is all I ever care about. I just FINALLY beat both current gen Wolfenstein games earlier this year. Bought Wolfenstein 2 and it ended up becoming trade bait at GameStop before I ever played the first chapter. I’m turning over a new leaf with the X though. [emoji38]
