And the fact that Call of Duty is the only historically accurate shooter, kudos to them for telling the story of the zombies of WWII that every other supposedly historically accurate shooter leaves out.

I only take umbrage at the fact that the developer is selling the game as historically accurate, which interested me, and then it's not. And yes I'm well aware of COD and zombies but that is a separate mode that is just meant for fun, they don't pitch it as a part of WW2.

Pretty sure what EG is saying (could be wrong) is that's its CoD. Call of Duty. It's not to be used as a historical reference. If you're using Call of Duty to help you "remember history how it actually happened", that's on you, man.

Well, see my post above. And I still definitely plan to rent this game. Just not a preorder anymore after this. And yes you guys can consider that silly as much as I think it's silly that someone wouldn't buy Madden 18 because their teams socks have 4 stripes instead of 3 but that's what consumers should always do, vote with their wallets.

Complaining in forums is a fun way to debate stuff but the bottom line dollar is all that matters for game content and how devs develop.

But didn't you boycott NCAA over dreadlocks?

In the end you're picking and choosing what you want to argue to convince yourself. Maybe it's time to evaluate the whole entertainment vs realism thing and go back to what videogames are for, fun.

              Spot on, EG.

Big reason why I purchased a Switch was because it looked like a console/handheld that'd provide me a lot of enjoyment. I've been playing Lego City Undercover and have a smile on my face pretty much the entire time.

Life is stressful enough that getting caught up in minute details in a videogame is something I have no desire to do. I am always trying my best to just enjoy every game I purchase for what it is. In the end if I'm not having fun with a game, I'll trade it in towards something else, so the games are never a complete loss.

Re: I have a confession to make: I don't finish games..

Here's my real problem, there are just to many games to play. I was cruising along great in Mad Max then Horizon Zero dawn went on sale. Now I'm so into that game I can't stop playing it. I mean come on running around a beautiful world killing giant mechanical machine monsters , how can you resist that? Then hitman goes on sale , then Mass Effect goes on sale. I can't resist these sales and Until Dawn pops up for free. Out of those I did try Mass Effect (the demo) then bought the game but haven't played yet. My back log keeps growing. Before I get to these recently purchased games I still have a list of previous games to finish but by then Madden, Project Cars 2 and who knows what else will be out!!!!

It's truly a great time to be a gamer. I retire in 7.5 years so maybe I can finish them then.

PS: Buying a 4TB external HD for the PS4 Pro is no help, I've got 71 games and the destiny 2 beta installed. lol

So much this. I’m buying great games from 2-3 years ago because I was almost exclusively a sports gamer until last year.

Of course you pick and choose, it's not a black or white issue. You can't compared dreadlocks to World War II, that's ridiculous. And yes games are about fun but they also can be about realism. For a game that claims historical accuracy you cannot do what they did and not expect people to complain.

Its not a big deal to you, that's fine, to each their own. It is an issue for me and some others.

I too try to enjoy every game for what it is as well. There are no expectations in a Lego City Undercover game, it's not based upon anything. However there are certain expectations for a game based on World War II that claims historical accuracy. So your comment is a bit apples and oranges.

And I'm not stressed about it, it's just an issue for me that I'm debating on here. In fact, far from being stressed about it, I love debating issues like this as I think it's very interesting to examine societal issues in games and entertainment.

With that being said, I think that's about all I am going to say about this because everyone has made their position here pretty darned clear

Wait? I can't? Why? You were upset that real players who were in a game didn't have their same hairstyle as in real life but that's different than incorrect race/gender of soldiers from WW2? How? I'm pretty sure Madden and NCAA claimed realism as well. But that's fine. I get it

I'm probably confused but if he was upset about players not having their real life hair style in NCAA, wouldn't him being upset about this be the same thing?

It's being called out like a contradiction to his previous belief but to me it seems like he's keeping to the same principal of wanting realism?

I think he is saying in one case I was upset and bought the game and in the other I was upset and didn't buy the game. But as I said before, there are always shades of gray. You can be upset with something and still be ok with buying it. And in other cases you can be upset with something and just don't want to put your money towards it.

It's not black or white, few people are 100% satisfied with every design decision in a game but still purchase it. It's just about what you fundamentally find disagreeable and what you find wrong but something you can live with.

This conversation is really going on in here, too?

Holy cow on a ****ing stick man. Women did in fact serve in combat in WWII. Can we clear that up already or does that go against the narrative of revising history for a ****ing video game?

Here is a great article with an overview on the campaign and multi-player that should address whatever concerns you have about Call of Duty not being a stalwart of authenticity of virtual warfare realism that we have grown so accustomed to over the course of the series: http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/20...emale-soldiers

This whole "controversy" is ****ing silly.
