Re: Nintendo Switch Announced, Scheduled to Release March 2017
Day. One. Purchase.
Easily the most hyped I've been about any type of console purchase in a long time.
Obviously it won't be up to par with the Scorpio and stuff, but that's not an issue for me. I'd be interested in the actual processing power specs of the Tegra they are using, since it should be the Pascal refresh of it. It will look good enough for the third party games since XBOne/PS4 stuff isn't all that powerful and even if this drops the quality a tiny bit, it's whatever.
Hopefully they make a non-idiotic online system. I'm in it for the games though - don't personally care about the portability.Last edited by ubernoob; 10-20-2016, 03:59 PM.badComment

Re: Nintendo Switch Announced, Scheduled to Release March 2017
See that's the thing that differs with me on Nintendo consoles.
I don't need the same horsepower that the PS4 Scorpio and all that needs.
Mario, Pikmin, Zelda, Animal Crossing, etc. is not going to require all that power that other titles I will get on my PS4 will.
Make it a unique console that is portable as they have done and I'm game!Comment

I'm saying it can't fall too far behind or it will be a mainstream flop.
Madden was on the Wii, but it was a crappy version. 3rd party games are going to need parity otherwise they will fall by the wayside and this will just be another failure.
God bless moving away from disc-based format though. So ready for that to leave. The drawbacks to them are dumb and dealing with them in 2016 is silly.badComment

What are the draw backs? I was under the impression all the discs were for at this point was to prove you owned the game. They don't even spin when playing games. It's all on the HD.Comment

You said it's not a big deal, I was agreeing that to me, it's not needing that horsepower.
There were some posts about the Scorpio and all that being more powerful.Comment

Re: Nintendo Switch Announced, Scheduled to Release March 2017
I don't care at all about Nintendos horse power. I literally just get it for Mario, Zelda, DK etc.
It's trouble third party wise if it's severely under powered though. But you would think they know that by now.Comment

There isn't any spinning for the cartridge though like there is with a hard drive. That memory is faster than any hard drives that get put into consoles.Last edited by ubernoob; 10-20-2016, 06:28 PM.badComment

Re: Nintendo Switch Announced, Scheduled to Release March 2017
And yes, a cartridge is faster than a disc, but the drawback to that is storage concerns and cost to manufacture.
I think the idea that nintendo doesn't need 3rd party support is kinda weird. The WiiU tanked in part because there wasn't a steady games output for it. It's becoming harder and harder to justify 350-400 dollars for 4-6 games.Comment

Re: Nintendo Switch Announced, Scheduled to Release March 2017
Cautiously optimistic for this, main curiosity is if it will replace the 2/3DS. If the price point isn't bad, it could be interesting and in my opinion they picked the best time for the launch, in the middle of the typical "gaming drought" that will give them an opportunity to build an install base and shoot out a new marketing campaign based on that information come the holiday season 2017.
I probably won't preorder it, but it actually is one I have some interest in. Price point is key though, I won't pay more then $300 unless there is something that blows me away, playing PS3/X360 era games isn't. The concept is nice, but the games need to follow.Bulls|Bears|Cubs| Blackhawks|Huskies|Horned Frogs|

Compare how cheap it is for you, yourself, to buy SD cards in bulk. Now imagine having business deals in place. The cost isn't much higher than discs.
I'm all for games moving away from the terrible disc format when there are much better options out there.badComment

Re: Nintendo Switch Announced, Scheduled to Release March 2017
This looks pretty cool. But just like the Wii and the Wii-U, it won't be **** if they don't get quality third party support.
They got Skyrim, but that came out 5 years ago. Talk to me if they pick up Red Dead, GTA, Battlefield, or a quality sports title that is on par with its Playstation and Xbox counterparts.
It's amazing how badly the Wii set back sports gaming on Nintendo systems.
