You can play it at the bottom of a lake as it's also waterproof!!!!Comment

Re: Nintendo Switch Announced, Scheduled to Release March 2017
Yeah, Nintendo said this but the entire 3 minute commercial had everyone playing Switch outside, in a car, in the park, on a rooftop, etc. outside of the beginning so I'll disagree with what Nintendo said as I see it as a handheld/portable console that can also be played on your HDTV. Think PS Vita if it had an HDMI out port.
Comparing it to the vita is the most ridiculous comparison.Comment

Re: Nintendo Switch Announced, Scheduled to Release March 2017
The comparison isn't ridiculous at all. If you take the Vita and connect an HDMI out cable to your HDTV, it's the same thing but without the docking station. Disconnect the HDMI cable and it becomes a portable.Comment

Exactly. This is a handheld with a docking station.Comment

Forgot after one video, you guys knew exactly what this is. My bad.
I'll enjoy my handheld with docking station, since that's all it is!Comment

Re: Nintendo Switch Announced, Scheduled to Release March 2017
I don't have a problem with what it is as long as I can use the PRO controller for every game that I want to play. Just waiting on January 12th for price, release date and launch games.Comment

Does the VITA even have HDMI out?

Re: Nintendo Switch Announced, Scheduled to Release March 2017
No. The Vita also doesn't have the same console level control setup... two ****ty analog sticks certainly don't count, and the lack of the additional shoulder buttons has always been a sore point. I'm going to go out on a limb and say it doesn't have near the specs the Switch will have either.Comment

They have already stated that all the tech is located in the hand held unit. The thing you hook up to your tv is nothing more than an hdmi cable and a charging port.Comment

I thought the commercial made that part pretty obvious. It certainly screamed "docking station" to me.Last edited by DickDalewood; 10-27-2016, 10:53 PM.Comment

Re: Nintendo Switch Announced, Scheduled to Release March 2017
I guess I'm more of the "wait and see" type rather than try to analyze, conjecture, and forecast. January isn't that far off.
The portability has drawn me in, but what will be deciding factor will be Nintendo's commitment to provide a library that is plentiful and what games they will launch with. I'm hopeful since they're marrying their portable and home consoles together that will be the case. We'll see.
In reality I'll probably pick it up just to play the new Zelda.

Looks like 4gb of RAM in the retail units. PS4/Xbox one games use 6-7gb.
Nice for a handheld, but current gen games being ported over probably won't be common, at least not with all their features.

That's fine with me honestly. Give me Madden without MUT, Battlefield/COD w/o single player mode etc and I will gladly take that on a system I can literally take anywhere and still play all those AAA games. Many will boo boo about certain features missing but most people don't play them anyway

Re: Nintendo Switch Announced, Scheduled to Release March 2017
Any multi-platform games will either be older games (think Wii U launch) or watered down ports (Skyrim won't have mods or online features like the Xbox One/PS4 versions have).
Battery life for the handheld better not be only 3 hours as rumored because then, it would completely fail as a portable and kind of sad that 3DS would have better battery life.
I'm still 50/50 on Switch and still depends on the launch games and price. One thing is for sure, it BETTER have Zelda on launch day because if not, then Nintendo should delay Switch to May or something because that's by far the number one game that will sell the console.
As for Vita, it's funny. Dev kits DO have an HDMI out port but the actual handheld doesn't. Even funnier is that if Sony would have released a newer version of Vita with an HDMI out port, L2/R2 buttons and removed the back touch, it would have already done what Switch is doing now three years ago. Like I always said, a huge missed opportunity for Sony three years ago.
Back to Nintendo, they do have something unique and different but at the end of the day, it's going to be third party support, online aspects and a solid pace of Nintendo exclusives that will allow it to succeed. And Nintendo needs to put 3DS games on it digitally at launch. I know they said that they won't but they should as that would increase the console's library of games at launch to the hundreds.Comment
