    Re: Nintendo Switch Discussion

LA Noire coming to Switch. I enjoyed playing it on the 360, but I had only rented it at the time. I'd like to dig in more again soon.

As for docked or portable, I got a Mumba case for my Switch, so I have a tendency to play it more in handheld mode than I did at first.

I keep mine almost always docked, but it did go on it's first flight last week. No one else on the plane had a Switch though. I checked.

While revealing a new partnership with SD card maker SanDisk, Nintendo has also revealed that, moving forward, some Nintendo Switch games will require a MicroSD card in order to experience the full content of certain upcoming games.

In an announcement, Nintendo noted that "a microSD card will be needed for certain Nintendo Switch games that contain an especially large amount of content and require additional storage for players to enjoy the full experience."

At least one upcoming release, NBA 2K18, will be such a game requiring a MicroSD card in the system, as evidenced by the game's updated box art.

NBA 2K18 box art with memory card requirement. Nintendo is making sure not to blindside players who purchase games that need extra storage, though. A representative for Nintendo of America confirmed that box art, like that for NBA above, will have notices of this memory card requirement on the front and back of packaging.

And for those downloading on the eShop, there will be the standard information noting how large the game is is.

Nintendo also clarified that games requiring the additional space of a memory card will still allow those without a microSD card to play portions of those games.

"If you purchase a physical version of a game that requires an additional microSD memory card, you will be able to play a portion of the game right out of the box (for example, specific levels or modes)," a representative for Nintendo of America told IGN.

"To enjoy the full game, downloading additional data is required. Depending on the storage requirements for each game, it may be necessary to purchase a microSD card to expand storage space.

When purchasing a digital version of the game, it may also be necessary to purchase a microSD card depending on the game’s storage requirements and the storage available on the consumer’s Nintendo Switch console."

Nintendo's partnership with SanDisk means the introduction of branded microSDXC in 64 GB and 128 GB sizes, with packaging featuring Nintendo characters and a Switch logo branding on the card itself. The Switch supports MicroSDXC cards up to 2 TB.

"Some Nintendo Switch games will require consumers to purchase an additional microSD memory card to play them. Our expanded storage solution offers flexibility for those who need it to play these games.

People can choose exactly how much additional storage space they want to buy, depending on the number and type of games they play, and the amount of content they plan to download," Nintendo said about the process.

Thanks! Looks like I'll be getting the digital version of NBA 2K now.

Yet to decide what I want to do about 2K exactly. I have the Early Tip Off physical coming in October preorder and recently purchased a 64MB microSD card, so I could fit either that or the digital copy coming next Friday. Right now I'm leaning towards waiting until October for the physical release. That way basketball season will have had started by then and I can still receive the $10 reward bonus for preordering.

I just wish 2K and Nintendo would give us a definitive answer on file size for both cart and digital already.

I just became a part of the Switch family. Add me guys - PepaP21

I only have Mario Kart and Sonic Mania but am looking for any suggestions on what else I should play. I have Botw on the WiiU but didnt even come close to finishing it. The portabilty of the Switch was my big selling point and it looks damn sexy next to my Pro.

              Welcome!

Breath of the Wild is well worth the time investment.

Mario + Rabbids is a ton of fun with great gameplay. I'm also a big fan of Lego City Undercover, although you might've already played that on the Wii U.

I don't have either game, but ARMS and Splatoon 2 are games that are popular with Switch owners.

Games like Fast RMX and Snake Pass on the eShop are good investments, too.

Of course, NBA 2K18, FIFA 18 and WWE 2K18 are coming soon, and there's also RBI Baseball if you really want a baseball game.

Binding of Isaac: Afterbirth + is a must-own Switch title, although I admit the game isn't for everyone. Worth looking into if portability is a selling point seeing as it can be paused at anytime and picked back up at that exact spot next time you fire it up. The replay ability is off the charts too.

I'm intrigued by RBI Baseball but I've put hundreds of hours into The Show. Its kind of sad really lololol and I'm still grinding missions. The game is 10$ more on the Switch compared to PS4/XB1 versions. EA missed the boat not having Madden on the Switch as I'm sure like many of you, I would have played on the go anywhere. Thanks for the suggestions and happy gaming!!

PS - The Switch Pro controller is down right amazing. So light and feels great in my hands. I suggest anyone get one if they haven't done so already.

Can someone recommend a good headset for an eight year old? My Wife and I are giving our Daughter a Nintendo Switch for Christmas.

I've read lots of impressions on RBI baseball, and the consensus seems to be that it is nowhere near worthy of a purchase.

Are a lot of you still using the Switch as your main console and will continue too? Switch seems to be getting better and better, just stared playing mine a bit more. Wondering With Direct will mention .

I spend my gaming hours pretty evenly between my Switch, PS4, and PC.

100% worth the purchase so far though - the system has a bright future for sure.

The Switch is my No. 1 console right now, and figures to be for quite some time. Tonight is a perfect example of why: playing Mario + Rabbids in handheld mode while the Rockies-Diamondbacks game is on the TV. Best of both worlds.

With NBA 2K18, WWE 2K18 and FIFA 18 on the way, my PS4 and Xbox One likely won't get much use outside of Vue, Netflix and YouTube.

It's atrocious. One of the worst sports games I've ever played.
