I was a little disappointed in the presentation. Felt like someone just woke Layden up and told him to go out there. Still not sure of some of the dates of some games that were shown. No Sucker Punch, no Star Wars B2, and no GT. Spiderman and Days Gone however, looks off the charts.

Re: E3 2017 - Sony Discussion Thread
Excellent conference and pretty much what I expected in that this conference was similar to 2014 in which Sony leads with their marketing deals while showing more of the games that were debuted a year ago.
- Uncharted: The Lost Legacy looks awesome and more action packed than the great but disappointing Uncharted 4 had. August 22nd!!!
- Horizon Zero Dawn: The Frozen Wilds DLC was an unexpected surprise and even more surprising was the "2017" at the end. Wasn't expecting anything from GG until PSX in December. Looks great but not surprising since Horizon is thus far the best looking game this generation.
- Days Gone looks great. I want this ******* game!!! No release year or anything. Late 2018 was my prediction and wouldn't be surprised if it slips into 2019. Bend did have a game cancelled by Sony at some point before they started Days Gone so this game is probably further out than expected/hoped.
- Monster Hunter World looks good for what it is. I didn't know what the game was at all until the title. Have no interest though either way.
- Shadow of the Colossus remaster by Bluepoint is a waste to me. TLG sold miserably and I see this as a waste of money, time and resources. Bluepoint Games is good and would have preferred to see them remaster a Resistance Trilogy Collection instead. Oh well. No biggie.
- Marvel vs Capcom Infinite looked good for what it is. Not for me as im not into fighting games.
- PlayStation VR simply does nothing for me whatsoever. Moving on.....
- Detroit Become Human had another good gameplay video. Love the setup and style of the game but no release year, window, date, etc. which is disappointing.
- COD: WWII looks awesome and day one for me. No interest in Destiny 2 but it looks good for those who are.
- God of War looks amazing. Early 2018. My guess is March since five out of six previous God of War games have been released in March. Can see that early 2018 will be stacked like early 2017 was.
- Spider Man impressed me. I'm not a comic book guy or Marvel fan but damn, did this game look good. They said 2018. I'm guessing Summer 2018. Hoping for July right after the 4th. Would be perfect.
- A few no shows which surprised me. Sucker Punch's new IP which could be shown at PSX in December. Knack 2 and GT Sport being shown in the pre-show was surprising especially with Knack 2 coming out in September. No final push for Crash Bandicoot which comes out in about three weeks. Dreams once again non-existent unless it was shown on the pre-show. The biggest no show surprise was Star Wars Battlefront 2. Considering that Sony has the marketing deal for this game, I was fully expecting a single player campaign gameplay video especially after EA showed 30 minutes of the multiplayer at their conference.
Overall, an 8.5/10. Last year was easily better because of all the reveals but this year makes sense to just show updates on the games that they showed last year, release some of them in 2018 and then "reload" at PSX in December or more likely, next year's E3.Comment

I think Undertale coming to Vita (and PS4) was the only sign from Sony that it still exists.

Re: E3 2017 - Sony Discussion Thread
I thought it was alright. It's overall how I feel about all of these conferences. For Sony, PSX just seems like a bigger stage now than E3 for them to make new and bigger announcements. Ubisoft had a couple things earlier, but this year has felt even lighter on the new and unexpected.Go Noles!!! >>----->Comment

Re: E3 2017 - Sony Discussion Thread
I tuned in to the preshow and got to see some of the extra games announced, I'm happy that the VR got some love, and depending on how the Bethesda games rate at launch I may pick them up, just not a huge fan of buying the same game repeatedly as I have with Skyrim and FO4. It's a big step in the right direction though, the major thing the VR was lacking was dedicated games, RE7 put it in the right direction and with Skyrim and FO4 coming, it's definitely a big step. I expect clunkiness and oddness, but seeing full length games coming is great.
The presentation was both great and depressing. I was hoping for one of their major releases to sneak into a holiday season 2017 release date (I also expected a Pro price drop to counteract the XbOx announcement), and got neither. 2018 looks great, I was cautiously optimistic for the Spider-Man game, but it looks absolutely incredible. I was hoping for something comparable in quality to Arkham City, and it looks like (strictly from watching) they blew that entire series out of the water. One of the rare times I'm hyped for a super hero game, since it's a genre I'm not overly fascinated with.
I'm still hoping that Days Gone sneaks into 2017 holiday season, but I have a feeling that it would've closed the show with that instead if it were to be a 2017 game, but who knows.Bulls|Bears|Cubs| Blackhawks|Huskies|Horned Frogs|

Re: E3 2017 - Sony Discussion Thread
Yeah, I agree. I felt it was a solid "C" but not a great show. Very short, very little talking, which is okay but I would like the devs on stage for newer games to discuss what's going on here and there. The issue was we've seen everything already that they showed and still the big games don't have a release date. Everything is 2018 and that's not good overall. I expected Sony to take advantage of Microsoft and put the foot to the throat, but they didn't. I'm glad they showed a lot of games over the hour, but nothing got me super excited outside of Spider-Man and I know we'll see more of that at PSX again.
Right now, If I ranked the shows, it's Ubi, MS, Sony, EA, Bethesda in that order.Comment

Re: E3 2017 - Sony Discussion Thread
Agreed the Quality of games is what's important not what's the more powerful system seems Microsoft is more worried about trying to have a more powerful system then having quality games
Quality over quantity is what it should be about & Sony after all these years has finally gotten is right.. it's not about the system it's about the quality of games.. I hope they continue to stay at this mindset because the more quality games you have the more $$$ you make because people will buy a ps4 because of the games..
Good job Sony don't change a thing right now... keep the good games coming!!
I can't wait for Spider-Man God of War COD Ww2 Star wars bf2 Destiny 2 & marvel Vs Capcom Infinite & grand turismo Sport!! Gonna be a $$$$ spending end to 2017!!!!

Re: E3 2017 - Sony Discussion Thread
I said before, this is a much bigger deal than MS made it out to be. They really should have spent more time on it. From what I understand and been told, PS4 is not getting the Bedrock Engine. Means, zero new updates going forward. No access to the user created content, no access to future texture packs, no "super duper graphics pack" (which even the Switch is getting), no cross play (obviously), etc and so on. Mobile, XB1, Switch and PC will all be playing Minecraft, sharing assets including DLC (buy DLC on one device, own it on all you have Minecraft on). This is a big, big deal. And a big mistake by Sony. Minecraft is the biggest game there is, and it's not changing anytime soon.Comment

Re: E3 2017 - Sony Discussion Thread
I remember it was showing vr games, i glanced over at my tv watching some of the nba finals, then before you know it they were leaving us with the spiderman game at the end. I guess they felt they can save announcements for a later time and just sprinkle this conference for now.
Spiderman looked great, the detroit human game looked interesting, im mixed on god of war. For a god of war game i really dont want to have to switch characters and be a young kid for portions of the game. I have been there and done that with other games. But the game looked impressive in the fighting sequences.Comment

Good assessment...I expected Sony to try and step on the throat, but they didn't come close...missed opportunity?Yeah, I agree. I felt it was a solid "C" but not a great show. Re: E3 2017 - Sony Discussion Thread
I thought the show was great for what it was. Tied with Ubisoft for my personal best conference. Show was short. Exactly 60 minutes I think but I love the no talking. No reason to talk. All that ever does is drag and bore people to sleep. Save the talking and comments for press releases. Just show me the games, that's what I care about.Yeah, I agree. I felt it was a solid "C" but not a great show. Very short, very little talking, which is okay but I would like the devs on stage for newer games to discuss what's going on here and there. Yeah, we have seen the games already but so what? What we saw looked great, showed new gameplay elements and you could see how the games are coming along. The only negative is that the majority of games didn't get a release date but truly, were you really expecting release dates? Except for God of War, I wasn't. I said for months on gaf that Sony's conference this year would be similar to 2014. Focused on what was already shown the year before and using their massive marketing deals to carry them through the fall/holiday season as they've done since 2014.
Yeah, it does suck that outside of Uncharted: TLL, Horizon: TFW and God of War, nothing has any type of release date or window but let's be honest, does it really matter? Sony has already the best exclusive lineup this fall/holiday season since 2013. Uncharted: The Lost Legacy is an easy 9/10. Same with Horizon DLC. Knack 2 should easily surpass the original and GT Sport will sell 5M+ easily.
God of War was running off a BASE PS4 which is insane!!! All the gameplay videos were good and showed more of what I wanted to see - all the games im buying day one. Spider Man looked great. If it plays and controls as good as it looks, oh man.
EDITED.....just watched the Nintendo Spotlight.
For me personally, based on the games im buying when released, it's Sony > Ubisoft > Nintendo > Bethesda > Microsoft > Devolver Digital > EA.
In general, I would put Ubisoft > Sony > Microsoft > Nintendo > Bethesda > EA > Devolver Digital.
Let's be honest...Sony stepped on their throat years ago and if anything, Microsoft killed themselves as opposed to Sony killing them.Last edited by daniel77733; 06-13-2017, 01:03 PM.Comment
