Re: New PlayStation 5 Details Revealed, Arrives Next Holiday Season
Some of it i think could be true but some not so much, and some could just be lucky guess because it makes sense. But yeah interesting because there have been a lot of rumors about release date, price, TF but not much on games yet.Comment

Re: New PlayStation 5 Details Revealed, Arrives Next Holiday Season
I try to not focus on the rumors or leaks because there are new ones every couple days. Like the mockup PS5 console. I don't care how the console looks as long as it is as powerful as it can be and is good with cooling/quiet, it can look like a toaster.
I am curious to see how Sony PS5 exclusives handle SSD/reduced loading times. I expect cross gen games(including early Microsoft games) to have to factor in previous gen loading times, so that will affect development. We all know about how there was overdrawn cutscenes or artificially slowing down characters in order to load up assets/next scene. But if SSD eliminates the need for that, it could help the flow of games. I really feel the flow of games will be a lot smoother with SSD. I feel the PS5 exclusives can take advantage of SSDs and have vast open worlds that flow naturally without having to have loading screens and too many artificially slowing down players. Without those moments, they would have to make the campaigns longer since flow of games will be a lot faster. As far as Third Party cross gens games, the SSDs should speed up loading into/out of games, especially sports games. I want to be able to load into and out of games very fast. It'll be cool and convenient if I can boot up console and get all the way into a game within a span of a couple minutes.Comment

Re: New PlayStation 5 Details Revealed, Arrives Next Holiday Season
Yeah Load times are a interesting thing. Most games don't bother me when it comes to load times but some do and its never a bad thing to have faster load times. Yes there are a lot of rumors but i have not seen many about games more about power and price. Also because Sony is not coming out and saying any thing its making things hard. I really wish when Sony said they were not going to be at e3 again that they would have also said something like but join us for ps5 reveal or something on such and such date. The rumors about feb reveal for ps5 is driving me nuts, and not knowing if we will get more news in say like may or July or something sense they are not doing e3.
I do believe we'll see the Feb event, either Feb 5th or Feb 12. That would be the right time. Then you have 8-9 months of marketing and attending non E3 events to show off consoles and talking about games. I do believe that Microsoft will do something before E3. I think they would want to focus on games primarily at E3 since Sony won't be there. I think they will release their full specs before E3 since I'm sure Sony's will be out before then. So I can see them releasing full specs of Xbox within a month after Sony does, especially if it is indeed more powerful.Comment

I do think Sony wants to control the narrative and keep things close to chest. I guess they wouldn't want to be set it stone and something comes up or Microsoft tries to steal their thunder. There was a reason Phil Spencer changed his twitter AVI the day of CES. I knew there wouldn't be anything substantial at CES. By keeping things quiet, they control the narrative. They could keep things quiet until the hour of event and it would probably break the internet.

I personally believe that Sony is making a mistake by skipping E3. It's not about Sony or the ESA. It's about the PlayStation Nation of fans. I love E3 and thought for sure they would be there this year. It's very disappointing that they won't be.
Everyone knows that im not the biggest Xbox fan whatsoever but since E3 2018, they've slowly built up hype and interest into their next gen console. Plus, they had E3 2019, Keighley's show at Gamescom 2019, X019 and TGA events, reveals or announcements.
I must give major props to Spencer and Microsoft because im 100% all in with Xbox Series X day one.
With PlayStation 5, I know all the amazing sequels and whatnot will be coming eventually but buying day one, they simply haven't hyped me up at all. I keep reading/hearing rumors of a PS5 reveal event but until Sony confirms it, im not getting hyped up for it.
But we'll see what Sony does over the next few weeks.Last edited by peter42O; 01-19-2020, 12:36 PM.Comment

I actually agree with Rand Al Thor as he believes that Microsoft will drop the specs a few days before the PS5 reveal and he wouldn't be surprised if it was via Digital Foundry like they did with the Xbox One X.

The E3 thing doesn't mean much to me. It doesn't have the same feel. I wouldn't be suprised if in a few years, everyone doing it on their own terms. I'm taking the positive approach to it. I see this as a opportunity for Microsoft to put out a onslaught and show off their next gen console and for Sony to control their own narrative
I'm buying PS5 day one. I always been a Sony guy from day one. I prefer their exclusives and use to the "feel" of PlayStation. The whole most powerful console thing doesn't matter to me. If they won't have true next gen exclusives until year 3, you won't see the true power right away anyway. I'm not picky on the 3rd party games looking/performing better on a console as long as it is a quality game. Xbox will still push it as a all-in-one box, I'm just concerned about playing quality games.
One thing I don't like is, we're completely in the dark with Sony. At least with Xbox, you know you will see it at E3 and other major events. But with Sony, you don't know until they formally announce it. But either way we got until Late Oct/Nov before they're available, so I will be patient and keep hopes in checkComment

I can see them doing that. Microsoft might not win the sales war, but they do want to win the power war. So I can see them dropping specs before Sony and then wait until E3 to show off games.

I pretty much agree with everything you said. At this point, im day one for Xbox Series X and just waiting to see what Sony announces for the PS5 launch titles. Based on leaks/rumors/confirmation, all I have is possibly Ratchet & Clank 2 and Godfall even though it may be a one year timed exclusive. I'm hoping for something else that's good and I want to play day one.Comment

Re: New PlayStation 5 Details Revealed, Arrives Next Holiday Season
We can expect the racing titles for both consoles as a day one launch. Racing games are perfect to show off the visual capabilities of new consoles. Imagine those racing titles with improved graphics, 4k60, and ray tracing, they should be visually stunning. I want at least one quality PS5 exclusive. I'm not interested in Godfall. Sony has been so just hush hush, there is no clue how they will approach launch lineup. I can see a 2-4 exclusive lineup and some major PS4 exclusives with upscaled graphics
I'm expecting Demon's Souls Remake, Killzone 5 or new FPS IP and Ratchet & Clank 2 with R&C 2 being the only game that interests me. I do agree with PS4 exclusives with upscaled visuals but I beat them all already. lmao.Comment

Re: New PlayStation 5 Details Revealed, Arrives Next Holiday Season
Yeah, I can see that and both being showcases for the console. Only problem for me is that im not into racing/driving games. Godfall has my interest because I wouldn't mind a great looter slasher and because Counterplay Games has a lot of great talent of games that I liked or loved and enjoyed.

I played all the PS4 exclusives I wanted too. I don't typically play a game again after I beat it once unless it was a great game and that is at least 2-4 years after I played it the first time. So if Spiderman and GoW get a PS5 patch, 2 years is enough time between plays. Would like to Uncharted 4 upgrade.
Will we see any current gen game prior to 2019 get a next gen patch?. I don't believe so. There are a few games I would like to see upgraded to next gen specs. But not sure those devs will want to do thatComment

Re: New PlayStation 5 Details Revealed, Arrives Next Holiday Season
I never been into racing games, heck I never like driving missions in games lol. But those games are the best to show off high quality graphics. I'm sure that there might be not be any initial PS5 exclusives that I might not be interested in unless there is a new IP. So I'm hoping that there is some quality third party games and hopefully a decent sports launch game. Usually launch next gen sport games aren't that great of a game. We Usually get the stripped down game with a heavy focus on graphics. But hopefully Madden or 2k is a lot better.

Third party wise, im not worried whatsoever but exclusives are more important for me because third party games will be on both consoles.
I don't replay games either. The Witcher 3 is the only exception because I wanted to play the expansions and didn't keep my game save file.
I don't see Sony patching games. Instead, they will just be the PS4 version.Comment

Re: New PlayStation 5 Details Revealed, Arrives Next Holiday Season
Ratchet and clank on day 1 would be enough for me, and even more so if its a completely new game like post crack in time type of thing compared to another re imagine like the 2016 game was. I love the ratchet franchise, and even though its just one game i known more games are likely to come not to long after that, and being able to play a better version of some multi platform games is a + to. I am not sure if the batman game is really even being made at this point just so many rumors/leaks for so darn long i can't believe it in till i see the darn thing lol. I am not normally big when it comes to racing games did like drive club a lot though. I think Horizon zero dawn 2 at launch is extremely likely like 90% chance, and even if its not at launch I cant see it being later then early 2021. So yeah if ratchet and clank and Horizon zero dawn 2 are both out in the first like 5-6 months that is already a really good start and i think spiderman 2 is likely a late 2021/early 2022 game. When it comes to like a ps5 patch i am not sure how many games will get that. I think games like TLOU2 and GOT will get one for sure but not sure if other older games will get one or not. I known its not going to happen but would love for batman arkham knight to get a ps5 4k patch lol. Its still one of the best looking games i have seen this gen and would be great to get 4k.Last edited by Smallville102001; 01-20-2020, 12:41 AM.Comment
