It really feels like Sony wants to control narrative. I don't really see them not announcing an event because they are worried about Xbox undercutting it. Xbox reveal was unexpected. So there is a chance that Sony might do the same. But besides the Wired Articles and Logo, I don't think there has been anything official from Sony.
I don't expect anything much from Xbox until E3. Besides possibly doing a full spec release before E3, I could see Xbox being essentially radio silent before that. One positive is Sony not being on a deadline or having to hold back. They can create their own timeline.
I expect Sony or highly credible sources to make a very strong hint about an event a couple weeks before it happens

My issue with Sony's silence is that since E3 2018, they haven't done a single major show and unlike Microsoft with Xbox, they haven't gotten me hyped for next gen at all. I understand they have TLOUP2, GOT and a few other console exclusives from third parties before PS5 but they need to get their fan base hyped and interested. As of now, they simply haven't done that.

Sony skipping E3 for me sucks because it's meant for the fans who want to watch all the showcases and as a PlayStation fan, it's simply disappointing that they haven't had a major show since E3 2018, are skipping E3 for the second straight year and have done nothing to get fans hyped.

Revealing the PS5 logo is literally meaningless to me.

I know they've had a few State of Play videos but honestly, those suck and are worse than Inside Xbox which is saying something. The difference is that between the two, Microsoft has had a few shows that got me hyped. They were at Keighley's show at GamesCom and at TGA but also had X019.

Don't get me wrong as im day one for both but as of now, im just more hyped for next gen Xbox than I am for PS5.

My issue with Sony's silence is that since E3 2018, they haven't done a single major show and unlike Microsoft with Xbox, they haven't gotten me hyped for next gen at all. I understand they have TLOUP2, GOT and a few other console exclusives from third parties before PS5 but they need to get their fan base hyped and interested. As of now, they simply haven't done that.

I have been following JorRaptor since AC Origins and yeah, he's real good. Very accurate and like you said, he states what's facts and what is pure speculation or rumors.

I’m all in on the PS5 and decided I am done with XBox since the One X has pissed me off to no end with freezing issues and an inability to read most 4K UHD discs.

I’ve purchased both consoles for years and never had any issues before, but unless the really wow me (which I doubt will happen since they won’t have any exclusives at launch) Microsoft has lost a customer.

Yeah, patience is key but just wish Sony would say straight out if there's a PS5 event in February/March or not.

I'm all in with both. I'm just not hyped for PS5 yet as Sony hasn't given me any reason to be thus far. I had Xbox One X for 18 months but only used Game Pass so I can't comment on any issues regarding freezing or inability to reading 4K UHD discs as I was literally all digital on the console.

Yeah, they won't have any "exclusives" at launch and for the first year or so but I still want to play Halo Infinite at it's best which would be Xbox Series X.

I personally don't know why they're developing all their first party games with both generations in mind and will have to scale them all which requires more time, money, resources and work plus extra costs in manufacturing and distribution for the Xbox One disc and case versions when they have X-Cloud.

I always assumed that being able to play say Halo Infinite on the 2013 base Xbox One would be via X-Cloud so even on that 7 year old console, you would still be playing the Xbox Series X version of the game.

As of now, im day one for both but at the same time, if there's only Godfall at launch for PS5 while I have Halo Infinite, Gears Tactics and possibly Wasteland 3 (backlog) at launch, I would probably wait on PS5 until there's more exclusives that I want to play.

Like illwill10 said, we just have to be patient and see how it all plays out.

Realistically, I can see late February. Unless everyone has kept their mouth shut, this isn't something that is kept quiet until week of.
For me, graphics aren't everything. I can play older games if they are great. I am looking forward to see more powerful CPU and Improved AI. I was/am satisfied with PS4 graphics. So anything better than that, I am satisfied with it. I'm looking forward to more vast open world, improved AI, better textures, improved Physics.

Yeah i am thinking more late feb at this point in time. If it was even going to be around feb 12th i think we would have news already. Maybe we will get news friday Jan 31. Back with ps4 we got news about the event on Jan 31 lol.

Graphics are like 3 for me behind game play and music and like all games look good now i guess that is part of why i am not blown away has much has i used to be. This is not like the 90s or 2000-2005 time were games were blurry looking or looked very pixel like and lacked details. Now days ever thing is pretty clear looking and has a good amount of detail.

Its bother me a lot to even though i am sure ps5 will be great for a few reasons. 1. Like you said 2019 was a pretty boring year for ps4 and Sony. 2. They said they were skipping e3 again this year and then went quite. I think it would have been much better to say something like we are not going to e3 but we will see you on such and such date that way the blow of them skipping e3 would not be such a big deal. 3. We don't know if Sony is going to do a event in Feb or march or what right now. 4. Likely Sony will do a second event like thing before the system comes out were they go into more details. First event they will likely talk about and show some games but most likely they will not show the system, or give price, and release date in till a second event. With them skipping e3 we now have like no idea when that is going to be. Like is it going to be like late may just before e3? Or will it be just a little after e3 in like late July? Or August, September etc. We known they are not going to do like a event in say feb/march and then say nothing in till just before the system comes out has that would be bad marketing and a way for people to like forget about it.

When the event happens on top of all the specs and prices I'm hoping they announce some games as well. Everyone knows HZD 2 and Spiderman 2 is coming at some point so you might as well go ahead announce them. Even if you just show the logo and say coming soon I think that would be a good move. If they do that and talk about a few other games that are closer to coming out I think it would help get everyone excited.

How is it that Insomniac is handling development of both Ratchet & Clank and Spider-Man 2? Those are big development titles, especially Spider-Man.

I have no idea that R&C was coming out for that very reason, until everybody started chirping about it in here.

How is it that Insomniac is handling development of both Ratchet & Clank and Spider-Man 2? Those are big development titles, especially Spider-Man.

To add on this the last ratchet game came out in April of 2016. Spiderman they started working on in late 2014. So around a year and a half before the last ratchet came out they started working on spiderman. Spiderman took about 4 years to make has they started on it in late 2014 and came out in later part of 2018. Sequels tend to take less time to make. So i could see spiderman 2 taking 3 years meaning a later 2021 release, and ratchet and clank before that has a launch game. I think when we get a ps5 event when ever that is we will see a new ratchet game. I think in late 2020 at PlayStation experience if they go back to doing them or if not maybe around the release of ps5 we will get a tease of spiderman 2 even if its something very short.

Pretty sure that Insomniac has three studios. The primary one is for Spider Man 2. The secondary one is for Ratchet & Clank 2 which I believe will be a PS5 launch title and wouldn't be surprised if it was originally a PS4 title and moved to PS5 because Insomniac is extremely time efficient and at this point, my guess is that the game is done. Their tertiary studio is smaller and mainly for VR games as they just released Stormland for Oculus Rift a few months ago.

My prediction for the PlayStation 5 reveal event games wise would be Ratchet & Clank 2, Killzone 5 (or a new FPS IP from Guerrilla's secondary team), Demon's Souls Remake, TLOUP2 MP, MLB The Show 21 and ends with Horizon 2 trailer. And of course, third party multi-platform titles will be shown/revealed as well as Godfall.

Overall, realistically it's looking very good. We just need an announcement already. I believe an announcement happens near the middle/end of February for sometime in March. I will be very surprised if it's a week or so turnaround between announcement and event.

For reference, Sony announced the PS4 reveal event in January 2013 and held it on February 20th, 2013.

I hope Madden and Live will be substantially greater next gen lol. But seriously speaking, I'm sure the powerful CPU will allow developers to do things that weren't possible in past gens. Knowing EA, I'm sure they will continue to put a major focus on Visuals and continue with Frostbite. But I really hope they focus on having a smarter complex AI. I hope that offline gets love.
The main problem with sports games are the heavy focus on micro transactions and annual releases. I know Annual releases aren't going anywhere. But it hurts sports games. How often do we truly see jumps between yearly iterations. That's why we see developers push "innovations" yearly and don't touch important aspects after first year. You see half the team working on current game and other half on next game. We see too many patches yearly. I rather see bi-annual releases. I rather see games get more time to release polished games that don't need so many patches. But thats not going to happen. So I hope sports games are better next gen because past 2 gens of sports games have been lackluster.
