Re: New PlayStation 5 Details Revealed, Arrives Next Holiday Season
Sony can't expect to remain at that $400 tag forever. It was expected that with the speculated specs, they would have to raise price tag. And it is pretty much known that XSX will be in $500-600. I do believe Sony wants to sell their console at a lower price tag than Xbox. It all depends on if Sony wants to sell the console at a loss. They would be able to make up for loss with more consoles sold and software sales. But with supply and demand, they can easily sell well at $500
It seems like they'll both end up around 500, I don't think MS would want to push it to 600 (easy way to lose) unless they offer some cheaper version at 400.
I'm very interested in what Sony ends up doing though!Nintendo Switch Friend Code: SW-7009-7102-8818Comment

Re: New PlayStation 5 Details Revealed, Arrives Next Holiday Season
I don't see how anyone couldn't have prepared themselves for a price around $500 if it delivers on some of the rumors/speculation out there. People will pay $800-$1000 for a cell phone and turn their nose up at Sony probably, but that's just consumers in general. Granted it's not all usually upfront, but you pay the same in the long run either way.
Price won't be the determining factor for me if I get it at launch so I'm still waiting for some concrete news about games, backwards compatibility, etc.
Hopefully soon, but no rush.. my Pro, PC, and Switch are still delivering. I guess my hope is I can just give my PS4 to my kids and upgrade with minimal loss.Comment

Re: New PlayStation 5 Details Revealed, Arrives Next Holiday Season
With that news about price to make the thing i am now thinking it may be sold at 450 before i thought 500. I think we might be looking at 450 for ps5 and 500 for xbox. I know someone said that Sony may not want to sale at a lose like they did back with ps3. Maybe that is true but ps3 was sold at like a $200 lose. If Sony were to sale at like a 25-50 lose that is way different then 200.Comment

Re: New PlayStation 5 Details Revealed, Arrives Next Holiday Season
I'm fully prepared to pay $500 regardless. I saved up $450 just by selling previous consoles. My biggest thing is just getting the most bang for my buck.
If the build cost is indeed $450 per unit, then look for either $500 or $400. Either would want to make a profit on each unit sold and almost match Xbox or take a loss, undercut Xbox, and sell more units initially. While PS5 price was always speculated whether it would be 400 to 500, but with XSX it always felt like it would be at minimum $500. Xbox is going for most powerful and not going for most hardware sold, so $500+ is realistic. Xbox just wants users in ecosystem for X-Cloud and Gamepass, but their thing will be Series X will be the best place to play games.
I just don't hope Sony doesn't wait until they are set with price to do a reveal. If they are waiting for Xbox price plans, that might not be known for months. I would take another Wired article. But, I taking the patient routeComment

Pretty much agree with you for the most part but I would like to see Sony announce something soon because once GDC hits in March, all the final specs are going to get leaked and I would prefer them to do a show announcing the specs as opposed to them getting leaked.
It could also have to do with the launch titles as maybe, they're not ready yet to be shown as it takes 3-6 months to make a gameplay trailer so they could be waiting on that since they won't be at E3.Comment

MLB the Show 22. I expect 21 to be on ps5 but I can get plenty of mileage out my PS4 Pro in 20 & 21. I just dont want to spend over $400 when I upgrade in a couple years, but I might wind up ''having'' to lolOSFM23 - Building Better Baseball - OSFM23

Sony didn't drop the price of the PS4 until almost three years after launch back in 2016 so a price drop 15 months after PS5 is highly unlikely.Comment

Re: New PlayStation 5 Details Revealed, Arrives Next Holiday Season
I think there eventually be a PS5 Pro after 3+ years. I do believe that there is higher chance of a Series S/Lockhart than a PS5 Pro. But it is likely that Sony repeats this generation with a Pro version mid gen. But this time around, I won't likely upgrade to a Pro version. I don't see 8k being a thing for another 5-8 years. So if there is a Pro, most likely more powerful better performing console. I would really need to be wowed for me to even consider getting a ProComment
