There are rumors about march 3 but we will see with how many rumors there have already been with out getting news. But yeah i hope it is talked about. I have heard people talk about how the vita cards cost to much and i am wondering how this will work on ps5. Ps4 500 GB hard drive is way to small in less you only really get a system for like FIBA and COD or something. I have heard because of SSD that information will not have to be written over again, and that it should makes games some what smaller but i am sure that games will still get bigger with just 4k textures and open world games getting bigger and bigger. So even with ps4 when it came out the system cost 400 but you really did need to get a bigger hard drive that just added to the cost. I have a 2 TB hard drive in my ps4 and still got about 700 GB left. 1 TB is really about the lowest you should need and next gen i am sure you will need even more. So yeah i am worried about this. I don't want to have to spend like a extra 300-400 or something just to have even space and i known SSD cost a lot more then regular HD and with the SSD that ps5 has being a special SSD its not even just a simple replace it type of thing. So yeah we really need to get details on this ASAP.

Anything less than a 1TB SSD for both next gen consoles would be a disappointment in my opinion because not only is that simply not a lot of space whatsoever but when both companies are touting their fast custom SSD's, I would think that 1TB would be the minimum because if not, it almost defeats the point and purpose of even having the SSD to begin with. Plus, if they truly are "custom" made for the consoles, I would think that would mean they are internally installed and can't be removed so in that case, 1TB is the absolute minimum either way in my opinion.

I agree. While SSDs should allow developers to not have to copy the same code multiple times so many times, so that should save storage space. But that would allow developers to create bigger games which takes more space. Also with gamers being able to modular installs, that should help. With custom SSDs, it probably won't allow gamers to tamper with it to add their own storage solutions or use external drives unless it is Sony proprietary drives. I'd imagine they would have to come up with extra storage solution. I don't imagine SSD storages being reasonably priced. So bare minimum has to be 1TB.

Or what if they are both 500 but ps5 is close in power like say 11.5 TFOPS compared to the XSX 12 not much of a difference.
The X and the PRo are or were only built for the extra cash grab during same generation.

Lockhart will be superior to the X because it will have a superior CPU and same or similar GPU. That right there makes it a strong case for MS to call it the base console that will provide 1440p 60fps gaming

XSX will provide 4k 60fps in most games with the exception of some being 4k 30

PRO and XB One X are limited by the terrible cpu and 30fps for the most part will be a thing of the past come next gen

Zero chance that Sony drops 2 consoles and nothing they will release will match XSX

The fact that MS has come out providing all these specs tells you they know they got the superior console

I known that the CPU is supposed to not be that good in the pro and xbox one and that TFLOPS are not ever thing but x is like 6 TFLOPS and i have been hearing that lockhart will only be like 4.

To be far MS didn't say the worlds most powerful console like they did with Xbox one x. I think they are going to be close and there have been rumors that ps5 has a better faster SSD. So if ps5 is like 11 TFLOPS and XBS is 12 but ps5 has a better SSD then i don't think you can really say that XSX is superior.

Re: New PlayStation 5 Details Revealed, Arrives Next Holiday Season

I have said before that i am not blown away with graphics has much has i used to be because just about all games look pretty good now and the jump from gen to gen may be getting smaller and smaller but i am sure things will still be great.

When you got to ps2/xbox/gamecube gen i was impressed with graphics because it was like the first time were in sports games i could tell who a player was by seeing there face in the game not just there number but there face even if the details were not the best.

ps3/xbox 360 gen was impressive because with the jump to HD games just looked a lot more clean and clear looking.

ps4/xbox one gen is impressive because for the first time not only can you tell who like people are but in general peoples faces look like skin for like the first time ever. Even though ps3 and xbox 360 had more detail then before people skin didn't look realistic. Now you can see like winkles on peoples faces type of thing.

ps5/XBS should be impressive because 4k and HDR. If you have the pro and or xbox one x i think it will be harder to be impressed sense you already have some experience with 4k. If you only have like the based ps4 like me i think just getting 4k and HDR for the first time will blow you away.

So with SSD and load times it will be interesting to see just how fast games load. I known there was a article about spiderman playing on ps5 and how fast it loads but its a ps4 game. It will be interesting to see how games load that are made for ps5 from the start. I normally don't have a issue with load times but it never hurts if games can load faster. My hope is that the games on ps5 that have the worst load times take has long to load has like the fastest loading games on ps4 that would be great.

Once you see Ray Tracing with RGB HDR (instead of YUV) with Native 4K resolution, it's extremely difficult to go back.

That depends on what the consumer is looking for.

The PS5 will support VR while the XSX still remains dormant on VR compared to the PS5 and current beast PC's. When I purchase a VR headset to support my rig so that I can play Microsoft Flight Simulator, the XSX will only be an afterthought for me.

After watching the Digital Foundry Ray Tracing video, it does make a big difference. That old Minecraft game and Control with Ray Tracing definitely shows the difference with RT on. Adds another level of realism and immersion. RT is something you can live out, but once you experience its hard to go back. Seeing those realistic shading and how lighting affects reflections and water. But hopefully with stronger CPU and GPU, they find a way to not suffer a noticeable drop in frame rate/performance.
I wonder if it can affect older backwards compatible games. Obviously Gran Tourismo would look great with Ray Tracing. But would like to see a older PS4 game like Tomb Raider or Uncharted with RT on, since a lot of the darker cave scenes would look great.

Exactly. I remember first playing Horizon Zero Dawn with HDR and I have a mid-tier 4K HDR TV and it still looks superb but Ray Tracing is on another level. Plus, playing games like Yakuza for example which look great but are maxed at 1080P with no HDR, I can't give it a perfect 10 rating in graphics because since 2017, games need to have the highest resolution it can have and HDR.

Next Gen, games need to have Ray Tracing, RGB HDR and Native 4K resolution for me to rate the games a perfect 10 in visuals. And like HDR now, once you play games with have Ray Tracing and HDR correctly implemented, it's a bit jarring to play games afterwards that don't support either or both.

I think Series X should be able to handle that. Just the raw power alone, it should reach Native 4k, 60 FPS(locked), RGB HDR, with Ray tracing. It'll be interesting if they could get older generation games to have Ray Tracing enabled, that'll really improve the experience.
We just don't know anything concrete with PS5. I do believe we could hear something this week though

                              Sony doesn't need two SKUs

Speaking as someone who is a Xbox only console gamer for the last two generations, Sony doesn't need to match the Series X in terms of specs. Because of their exclusives, which don't do anything for me, but are beloved by the masses, and the brand loyalty which now exists for them, IMO a console with 70% of the power of the Xbox will be enough for them to easily win this next generation again.

This won't happen, but the only way they could possibly lose the next gen is to be 40% weaker, and somehow 100 dollars more. Whether they announce tomorrow or June or September, they'll remain in the catbird seat.
