Re: New PlayStation 5 Details Revealed, Arrives Next Holiday Season
Maybe have the ability to create new gameplay mechanics that weren't possible before. It's easier to think of SSD benefits for open world versus a sports title outside of faster loading times. Maybe SSD makes it easier to branch in/out of animations
I'm more curious to see if the stronger CPU allows these sports games to have better AI. CPU AI improvements is my main wish for all titles, not just sports. Having smarter and capable NPCs leads to better, challenging experiences.
They'll probably showcase the "power"behind the new system with pretty graphics and that's understandable, it's what jumps out to most people BUT I want better CPU AI both on AND off the field. Every sports game I play I see AI controlled teams just shoot themselves in the foot with braindead personnel moves. It kills the longevity of the game.Comment

I'm hoping for more real time aspects, specifically in baseball video games. MLB 2K9 introduced this for the first time then bailed on it (and didn't do it to my satisfaction or direction, but oh well), and The Show has adopted aspects of it but is also teetering in an uninspired manner. We'll see what comes of it down the line.
Also, I'm hoping dynamic lighting systems advance a little more with all that can be loaded. However, to pretend that I know all of what SSD's will allow capability of would be irresponsible, so I'm just going to go ahead and say these were wishes of mine regardless of the specs.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Lighting will be a big deal, hardware ray tracing in these consoles will be what push ahead of PCs briefly. Probably not for long with the 3000 series cards coming.

Re: New PlayStation 5 Details Revealed, Arrives Next Holiday Season
If the specs are correct on the HD space, I have my concerns. Basing it just on my PC gaming usage, I have 5 SSD's and 2 HDD's while still struggling with space (8TB of space).
Granted I do keep most my games installed, since I have the room but with games running 50 to 100Gb each these days, that little 800Gb to 1.5Tb will fill up fast.
Constantly having to delete games to make room gets old and forces you to make decisions. Especially if you have a group of friends who jump around to different games.Comment

On the space issue I'll be interesting to see how being able to delete either the SP/MP parts of games work and how much space that will save.Retro Redemption - Starting over with a oldschool PowerBone Offense

If the SSD is 1 TB or less, then you can go ahead and kiss the high poly models from the Unreal demo goodbye. They were not going to be realistically put into games anyways, nobody truly expected an SSD that was going to be multiple TB's, but I'd be surprised if that demo wasn't close to half a TB by itself. High poly meshes and 8k textures take up a lot of space.
While it is cool that the demo showed off the technology that was able to make that many triangles playable, SSD sizes are years away from that ever even becoming a possibility unless you want games that are 600 or 700 gigs each.“No one is more hated than he who speaks the truth.”

My honest opinion is that bad AI is sports games is 100% programmer ability and jumping to a new gen won’t change any of it.Comment

Re: New PlayStation 5 Details Revealed, Arrives Next Holiday Season
Hopefully that's not true, 800 gb is laughable with how huge these games are now. It needs to be a minimum 2tb's. Or at least have multiple spots where you can upgrade the drive and add more than one SSDComment

I was watching a video and it said the way the PS5 is set up games should be smaller than they are now. I’m curious if that ends up being true or not.

Re: New PlayStation 5 Details Revealed, Arrives Next Holiday Season
Yeah with SSD eliminating asset duplication, that should drop game sizes down a bit. For Spiderman, i saw something like assets were 0.95 GB without duplication, but with duplication it ended being like 11.96 GB. So that was 10GB extra had to be used. But, I see game sizes getting bigger later in generation. I see some of the major AAA and 1st party trying to push the console to the limit. So imagine Spiderman with 10GB of more data that aren't being duplicated.
I keep forgetting about Modular Installs. So not fully installing whole games at once, should save space. So for someone like me, I don't play Online or certain modes. So for a game like Madden, I wouldn't install Ultimate team and Superstar KO. Or if I'm playing a game that I'm not going to keep long, I will only install Campaign and delete it when I'm done. They haven't gone over it yet. I imagine you install base game. Then when you boot into it. You get the game menu. Once you try to select a mode, you get a notification that you have to install that mode.
But, I see Modular installs best for those who focuses on one-two modes at a time. So for someone like me, It'll benefit me because I focus on one mode at a time. But if you're someone who jumps from mode to mode, you still have to install most of game anywayLast edited by illwill10; 06-06-2020, 09:55 AM.Comment

I'm sick of hearing about BC, it's a nice feature but I'm buying a PS5 for new games not possible on previous hardware.Youtube- https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC1Y...YHoeFjXQJ2Ps4g
