Largely, this discussion is why I value ecosystem features and value propositions over any single game or franchise.

I could type a long post but instead, I'll just say this - as someone who's always been a console only gamer, it's simply what I prefer and how I like to play all my games.

Sony seems to be giving a little bit more news about some of the ps5 games. We got that horizon video yesterday and we got a little news about spiderman today. Not much but they said it takes place a year after the first game and compares to uncharted lost legacy. Like we are getting small updates has i thought we might not get any updates in till the next Sony event.

But whatever, PlayStation 5 will be my secondary exclusives only gaming console so whatever it is, it is.

I'm wondering when you say this and I read this why is that so? Lets say CEO Kazunori Yamauchi from Polyphony Digital's team hits 120 or 240 fps then what does the X have superior over the 5? Just wondering.

I'm not saying it's easy or hard, but I'm wondering why they can't give you the option. The Show does.

That being said, I think 60 FPS would probably be fine for me, though I love playing at 100 FPS on my monitor, and overclocking it at 120 when I feel like it. Sadly, the GT trailer and gameplay in the reveal was kind of visually disappointing. Perhaps they're prioritizing it a little too overbearingly, but it wasn't a question of inferior resolution. It was just the overall design, fidelity, texturing, and detail.

A few reasons. First and foremost, majority of games that were shown including Spider Man: Miles Morales, Horizon 2 and Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart are said to be targeting 30FPS. Microsoft, Spencer and majority keep repeating 60FPS where as Sony doesn't. Second, Polyphony Digital should hit 60FPS or higher because it's a linear race track driving simulator. Honestly, it should. 240FPS though, are there TV's or Monitor's that even support that?

Third reason is that overall, while a few of PS5 exclusives will hit 60FPS, I simply believe that the majority will stay at 30FPS which based on what they've been saying, it's seems like they're focusing more on visuals and resolution.

As for Series X, they have tools that allows developers to render games in 1080P but use the tools to upscale it to 4K but the thing that makes this huge is that first, the actual image quality is that of 4K to where you won't see the difference unless you're Digital Foundry or someone like that. Point of this that a 4K texture takes up 8MB of memory so to save that amount of memory which can then go towards FPS or other aspects is huge because you'll get better performance because they have more tech available to them.

But we'll see. Quality wise, im expecting the vast majority of Sony's exclusives to be excellent and I just hope they give me options for either resolution or frame rate.

If FPS and graphical performance are someone's primary concern and they have the money to afford multiple consoles, to upgrade mid cycle, buy 10-15 games a year, etc.. why wouldn't you just invest in a PC? If your primary console is an xbox then Microsoft exclusives are available on PC now too.
I personally have zero interest in a gaming PC. Feel free to correct me in areas I’m wrong but I’ve always been a console gamer for a few reasons.

*Cost. I don’t even have a desktop anymore. Buying the components to build something is far more expensive than a console. And the costs of upgrades are pricey too.
*Simplicity. I buy a machine and it works. No screwing around.
*Game choice. I’m not an RPG guy. There are no games on PC that I want to play. There are tons of console exclusives over the years, particularly on PS. I have no interest in buying more than one gaming machine so I stick with Sony.
*I game in a family room on a 65” TV, sometimes with other people. Ideal for consoles.

That’s just me. If people can afford or desire multiple gaming systems it’s all good. I just want one that has the games I like at a reasonable price.

That's my stance on it, so I agree.

I never was into PC gaming. Last "PC" game I played was NBA 2k11 or 2k12 lol. My GF bought her teenage son a whole PC desktop so he could build his own PC. She never told me how much she spent on it because she knew I wouldn't like it lol. Pretty much now if you want to get a PC set up, you kind of want to have a PC that can give you better performance than the next gen consoles. I'm not that hardcore of a gamer to want to spend over $1000-1500 for a complete set up to give me a better experience than consoles. Then it's the factor of always feeling the pressure of upgrading to the latest tech. I'm just trying to buy one console at launch and have it last until next gen. I only upgraded to PS4 Pro because I got it as a gift and my original PS4 had the disc eject issue.

I just always preferred Sony, but not a fanboy or care about the whole console war banter. I like their exclusives and don't put "power" of console as high priority. For me, I never worried about FPS. While these new consoles are powerful enough to support 4k60, I'm not going to get upset if it doesn't. I'm just in it for the experience. I don't need the highest fidelity Multi-Plat, it doesn't really matter to me. Hopefully games follow the Demons Soul Remake route and allow for a graphical and performance settings for those who want higher frame rates.

I kind of want to upgrade my TV. But not really at the same time. While it doesn't have the HDMI 2.1, I think it at least hits 4k60 well. It has Motion 120, but I dont think that's true 120HZ. But 120 FPS is more for Multiplayer and fast paced games and I don't play them type of games anyway. I would be interested in a LG C9 if it has a good Black Friday sale, but still not sure. In the 6 months I haven't played games, I haven't used that TV much in that frame. That TV is in the bedroom. It was a lot easier to play games in the room when my child was 8 months and less and not as active.

Honestly, I don't consider myself a "hardcore" gamer. I was always a solo offline player. I play when I feel I have the time. Since I sold my consoles end of last year, I haven't played a game in 6 months(not even mobile) and I honestly don't miss it like that. Mainly because I have a toddler and keeps me busy and I finished all the games I wanted to play already. But I am really looking for to next gen and buying day one.

PC mainly for Simulation and strategy games.
Also the more readily available MODS and ease of mod use.

Sony for their exclusives and pretty much all else.

I hope HFW is not a 2022 game. I know we don't have a lot to go on but people have been talking about how targeting 2021 could end up 2022 if things get pushed back. 2022 would be a pretty big disappointment considering I was like 95% sure it would either be day 1 or early 2021. Not only that but Spiderman MM is a day 1 game. I know its a stand alone and not a full sequel but still considering the first Spiderman game came out like a year and a half after Horizon if Spiderman MM ends up coming out like 1.5-2 years before HFW I would find that to be pretty disappointing.

Spider Man: Miles Morales is using the PS4 base game's world map and assets in order for it to be ready for the PS5 launch. It's not built from the ground up, is a lot smaller in scope and length plus it's Insomniac who's extremely efficient so getting this "taste" of what's to come in regards to Spider Man 2 is not disappointing.

As for Horizon 2, I always said 5 years minimum and it slipping into 2022 (after a delay or not) would not surprise me at all. Sony has Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, Demon's Souls Remake, Gran Turismo 7 and a few timed exclusive games like Ghost Wire Tokyo so honestly, Sony doesn't need to rush it out. While I only care about Ratchet in regards for the 2021 games I just listed, in general, that is a great launch year and way better than what 2014 was after PS4 released.

Another factor could be due to COVID-19 which has caused delays and issues in regards to MoCap which means that if you can't do that when you want to, it's going to cause delays.

As long as Horizon 2 ends up being great, waiting a few extra months isn't going to make a difference.

Yeah the early lineup for ps5 is already looking a lot better then ps4 and I thought it would.

I understand that but its still kind of crazy to think that Horizon 2 could end up taking like 3 or so years long then Spiderman MM has they both should be able to reuse some stuff. Yes covid is the big X factor in ever thing. Ratchet and clank considering we got both a trailer and like more game play then like any thing that was really shown at the reveal I think means it can't be to far of. Even if not a launch game I think ratchet must be a early 2021 game then could see horizon being a late 2021 game and Spiderman 2 maybe early 2022 game.

I just saw this interesting video about Horizon. There has been some talk about how its graphics seem to good to be true but this video seems to be showing that it is like running in real time most likely.

Horizon 2 will probably be an 80+ hour game in a MASSIVE open world with so much more to explore and do. SM: MM is maybe 10-15 hour game if we're lucky using the PS4 base game and assets. Horizon 2 is being built from the ground up for PS5. There's just no comparison. Ratchet will probably be early 2021. It's probably done already but Spider Man: MM will be the far bigger game in terms of popularity and name value so we'll have to wait a few months for Ratchet.

While Cross-Gen/Smart Delivery doesn't do much for me since I don't currently have a system, it could still benefit me if it allows me to take advantage of previous gen sales. So typically we get the Black Friday Sales. For Sports games, you see the 50% off deal where you see $29.99-35 in most marketplaces. I'd imagine next gen copies of those games will still be full priced at launch. But if I could buy, let's say NBA 2k21 for 50% for PS4 and it upgrades automatically to PS5 version for free, that would be very convenient. If that's the case for cross gen titles, I would look for a sale for previous gen version instead of paying near full price. It would also be convenient for renting games as well. I plan on restarting my GameFly membership when next gen launches. So if a next gen version isn't available, I could opt for the last gen version.
