Agreed. Not expecting a new first party single player story based IP at launch but Obsidian is working on a new single player RPG IP, InXile has a new single player RPG IP after Wasteland 3 and Playground is rumored to be working on Fable which is a single player story based action RPG. While not at launch, I am expecting a few of those games down the line.

Everyone knows that im not the biggest Xbox fan but I still buy their consoles because there's always exclusives that I want to play and while Xbox One declined for me with only 5 exclusives compared to Xbox 360 which had 9 exclusives, looking at just TGA and what is already known, they are on a far better trajectory for me than they were this gen.

Bottom line is that im just hoping that they continue to showcase games that im interested in playing.

So the new console is just called Xbox. Series X is the model, but it's simply an Xbox, and that apperas to be the naming paradigm going forward.

Makes sense for an ecosystem that will see new hardware every 3-5 years.

Which would make sense. That way you don't have to necessarily follow a generation schedule. It gives the freedom to release a multitude of different consoles. Series X will be base console. Series can just imply the family of next generation Xbox. There's so many possibility. There can be a Series S which could be the entry level model that is 1440p max but still gives the next.gen experience. There can be the a disc-less version that relies on X-Cloud, Gamepass, and digital purchases. There doesn't have to be a mid-gen refresh. As 8k becomes more of a thing and as technology improves, they can just release a new console in the Series family

I have evidence. I recently put my Xbox One X up for sale on the FB Marketplace for $350.00 5 different people asked me to drop the price. I went down to $300.00. I said I would not go any lower because the X offers 4K gaming. They all responded and said they could get and Xbox One S for $150.00 - $200.00 and that offers 4K gaming as well. (It does not)

That is how uninformed the casual gamer is.They obviously don't know the difference between 4K gaming and just 4K streaming They are clueless and MS does make it harder for them not easier. For someone like myself that plays games every day it's not an issue. But for the less informed or the non gaming parent buying for their kid, good luck. Hence my One X is still sitting in my entertainment cabinet.

Just because you came across dumb people a few times on FB does not make this a norm

You really think that if this was effecting sales of the x or the pro that Sony and MS would not have named it something totally different.

What makes you story even more of a scam is the fact that why in the world would someone tell you on FB Market that they can get the S which does the same for 150? Ummm so why not buy that...They were just trying to bully you into buying it cheaper. They know exactly the difference

Most stores you walk into have the X and the S right next to each other.

Let me see how a dumb parent can tell the difference

On the left bracket we have the WHITE box S that cost 150

On the right bracket we have the BLACK box X that cost 500

If a parent was told by their kid they wanted an xbox one x and they saw the S and X you think they will just buy the cheaper because is the same thing but for some reason the store or MS decided to sell the same thing in two big different price range.

If the parent buys the S is only to save money and that has ZERO to do with MS naming it.

MS Could have named the console XBOX Super Duper COnsole and the X Xbox Predator Machine

That is not going to stop a cheap person from buying the cheaper console. They were not confused...They just wanted to spend less...Naming had zero to do with that

Where the confusion lies is in the marketing not the COLOR of the console. Both the S and X had the term 4K as a selling point. The problem the S is for 4K streaming not gaming. The less informed consumer looks at both consoles sees they both mention 4K and goes with the less expensive choice.
I've seen people post on here the Forza Horizon 4 runs n 4K on the S , it does not so why would they think it does?

Now we will have the Xbox one X and the Xbox series X and the same thing will be an issue. When little Johnny's mother goes to get him the new Xbox Series X for Christmas and sees the Xbox one X for a couple hundred less I wonder which she will buy not knowing the difference?

I agree with you, seems like a mixer my wife just bought which had minimal differences but one was drastically more expensive...

The series X creates even more confusion. Will it have 'exclusives' or will all the games be 3 tier'd ? ... 1080p30fps version, 4k 30fps version, 4k 60fps version?

It's awkward to me because you're not outright told what you're getting and why it makes sense to get it. I have the xbox1x, so if the games are the same it doesn't make sense for me for extra fps personally. It's always about the games. If there are a tonne of games coming out that are 'next gen' and the only way to play is to get the new one like has been the case for decades until this most recent cycle, ... then yes, pretty simple to understand. If not... wtf are they doing? lol

It will be more than fps. Things like ray tracing will pretty drastically change how games like the next Forza look/run on a One X vs a Series X.

Options certainly can breed confusion, but I'll take that over the illusion of obsolescence just to move hardware.

Yeah unless it is official gameplay, I don't get to caught up on graphics. But I do believe that graphics will see a jump towards photo realism. Ray tracing, improved textures, and lighting will definitely help. I wonder with Ray Tracing if we will truly see 60+FPS in most games as well.

But we'll have to wait until E3 to get in gameplay. I don't see us getting anything significant from Xbox until then.

A human with a brain knows that if Box A cost 150 and box B cost 500 there is a difference in what it offers. I do not need to be told there is a difference.

If the parent buys the Box A is because of price and that is it. If they were given a tutorial at the store that the Box B is superior in every way the parent who wants to spend less is still going to buy Box A because of the price so it has ZERO to do with the message or the name.

Once I understood the naming structure, it makes sense. For the next year, If I were Microsoft, I would just refer to the console as, SERIES X. it would be drilled into everyones head by the end of 2020.
