I expect the games to be announced in June with their digital press conference.

At this point, I want to see next gen games even if it just a tech demo. Current gen upgrades are cool, but unless it's a drastic difference, it won't sell me either. Wish they had at least one major Series X exclusive that can show off the power of that console.
Yea, I'm tired of seeing current gen upgrades it's nice but not what I want to see out my Next Gen console.

When it comes to current gen upgrades, it's something you have to experience to feel the difference. Especially from this current gen. I rather see 360 and Xbox games being shown and getting benefiting from Series X. That would have been a better way to show off power.
With all the talks how powerful the console the leap forward we should see, I want to next gen games. Not just for the graphics. But for the little nuances. Extra detail, Ray tracing, games being created with SSD in mind, smarter NPCs. Stuff like that

Technically, Microsoft already showed two games in Everwild and Hellblade 2 if not three games including Halo Infinite. They've already shown a few cinematic trailers for next gen. Not expecting gameplay until their E3 Digital Showcase.

As for the current gen games being upgraded, expect Sony to do the same in their video tomorrow which they started with Spider Man last year. Any new game reveals or first ever gameplay like of Halo Infinite has been reserved for the E3 Digital Showcase.

I wouldn't waste any of that stuff in a Digital Foundry video.

Yeah, not expecting any game stuff really this week, it's all about the hardware and infrastructure. In particular I'm interested in any additional announcements related to xCloud and the things this console does to lean into that.

xCloud works so well as it is, I could easily see a future within a couple of console generations where my kids just won't need to own consoles.

I have a question in regards to BC:

They say all previous gen games will be playable on the Series X, in what context are we talking? Say just downloading them off Xbox Live then playing them, or if we have our old games laying around, the Series X will read the old discs and we can play them no problem?

            IE... NCAA 14.

It will be games that are backwards compatible with the Xbox One. So no NCAA.

Don't know if anyone here follows him but Klobrille posted the following on twitter -

                343: Halo Infinite
                inXile: “ambitious“ AAA RPG
                Ninja Theory: Hellblade II
                Obsidian: AAA RPG
                PG#1: Forza Horizon Next
                PG#2: AAA RPG
                Rare: Everwild
                The Initiative: AAA game
                Turn10: Forza Motorsport Next
                Undead: AAA State of Decay
                World‘s Edge: AoE IV

If all goes well, I could have 8 exclusives that I will want to play.

In addition to 1st party games, I think Microsoft needs in on an exclusive comic book property. It's probably just the recent Spawn DLC on MK11 and me watching the HBO series on Youtube, but I think Spawn would be great for Microsoft. Spawn is well known enough, most people regard him as a bad MFer, and his source material is such that you could take some liberties and flesh it out. I know some people are tired of the old Arkham formula, but it works and those games sell well. I think that a well written Spawn game with the muscle of the Series X could do for Spawn what Rocksteady did for Batman.

Or Superman. In the past Superman games weren't that good. But with the power of Series X, whatever past console limitations should be lifted. A well-written and balanced Superman could be a good option for Microsoft.

I agree that they do need to step up their 1st party games. With all the power of Series X, I would like to see by Year 3 games that take full advantage of Series X specs. I think HellBlade 2 is a few years away. So that could be one of the first Series X exclusives. But it does need more AAA 1st Party games not just AA games.

I don't think Superman or Spawn move the needle much. Superman is a god, which is problematic in many respects.

Finance the next Marvel Ultimate Alliance game though, and you'll have everyone's attention.

With mutants and Fantastic Four on the verge of joining the MCU perhaps there is where the opportunity exists.

A comic book property in general isn't something I've felt like was missing though.

I can see that with Superman. Problem with Superman is he is too powerful so would need to really scale him back. Which in scaling him back, takes away from a true Superman experience.

I agree it doesn't NEED a comic book experience. Just a high quality AAA exclusive.

I don't think that a AAA comic book property moves the needle so much as I think that one could help shore up the Xbox library. Everyone and their mother knows that Xbox needs to get it together with 1st party games; Microsoft is on it and I expect to see some good things next gen.

It's just that I think a comic book property has a better chance of resonating with fans than a whole new IP. I'm sure some of the Xbox exclusives will be a hit with the quality of studios they have working on them, but some will not meet expectations as is the norm. Comic book properties have a baked in lore and most people have a general idea of what they are, it just comes down to if the game is good or not. That's an easier bar to meet IMO than creating a Gears of War out the gate that blows everyone away.

I saw that HellBlade 2 trailer and my jaw dropped, that's easily the best looking videogame I have ever seen. I didn't have a clue what was going on so I looked up HellBlade 1 and I plan on playing it before the next gen. If that were Xmen or Spawn or whatever, I would know what it was, more or less.

That's why I think Spawn is good. It's dark and gritty, he has some cool powers that aren't represented in gaming really, and he has obvious weaknesses as well. I could see Spawn filling that vicious God of War 1-3 void, or even scaling back to more of an Arkham scale where it can still be dark but not too graphic.

It's really just missing stuff like Horizon or Uncharted...games that aren't Gears or Forza. I'm sure they're working on stuff like this as well (and Obsidian RPG like Outer Worlds will be nice).

I don't miss a comic franchise, more just miss the variety of games but they're working on that. If some of the cancelled games had hit better then it would have help (Scalebound should have been fun!)

I watched that Digital Foundry breakdown of the XsX's design and I came away very impressed. It is a beast. The GPU power they squeezed in there with the efficient airflow and it is still supposed to be as quiet as the One X, pretty amazing.

I am expecting to pay at least 499 bucks but we will see how that goes.

The first party lineup may pale compared to Sony's but I think MS will bridge that gap as the generation progresses. Game Pass is such a great deal too, what a killer backlog waiting to happen for anyone just discovering it.
