Re: Microsoft Reveals the New Xbox Series X, Arrives in Holiday 2020

I plan on getting both consoles at launch, provided I can get them without too much hassle. As long as I can get both for around the price of the newest iPhone I'm good. My wife buys the newest model every other year. I expect to get 8 to 10 years of quality gaming out of these. That's great value IMO.

Always nice to hear Phil talk shop.

Just came to post that interview with Spencer. Good interview and info. Can definitely see only a few launch titles from Microsoft with the majority being third parties. Halo Infinite, Gears Tactics (console) and Forza Horizon 5 would still be an amazing launch as all three have the opportunity to be 90+ at launch. That would be one hell of a way to kick off Xbox Series X.

As I mentioned before, they have the Ecosystem in place, now they just need to nail the games, and I think they're going to do that this time around.

They're variable and competitive on price from reading articles from Phil. It's going to be interesting, but I'm guessing they won't be a lot more than 50 bucks more. Not sure if PS5 can pull off 400 or not, but if it's 450 then MS will probably be ok at 500 unless they really want to hit Sony and pay for it.

I saw they don't have a optical audio jack and Phil was saying that it's about cost/reward, so you gotta know they're trying to keep prices down a lot.

sounds powerful - however the naming is just so dumb - I have an "xbox one x" next one is "xbox series x"

as lame as just counting up can seem it's just a lot more organized and easier for the public to understand (and not make a mess of)

I guarantee people will buy a one x thinking they are getting the 'new' one.

Even though it happens all the time, it's always surprising to me when this happens - just through regular work experience and knowing how much resources corporations put into 'branding' - if you plucked someone random out of a room of 50 people, odds are you'd have a better name for the next console.

"series" X ... maybe like a BMW "the 3 series" - but there are not a 'series' under the 'x' banner ... and even if you say the 'one x' is part of that 'series' then how is the naming convention one that makes sense? the 'newest' one has less words, making it seem 'earlier' in the succession. I have an xbox one x, and now I have an xbox x or series x... .wtf lol

It will be marketed as Xbox. Other older models will be presumably phased out and we'll probably see a lesser model as an alternative to the enthusiast series X.

              Or are you yourself confused?

That was a very good interview with Phil and I liked how Ryan was pressing some of the tougher questions with him towards the end. The great thing with Phil is that he is likable and transparent when getting his message across, none of the confusing BS that goes on with some of the other companies.

Microsoft this go around needs to really work on nailing some of the first party games this time and building some new IP. Halo, Gears, and Forza X/H need a bit of a breather this gen. They should still release games from each series, but spread them out. Time to concentrate in putting more resources on creating some new IP like they have with Ori, State of Decay, Sea of Thieves, etc. State of Decay 2 is a good game and with more money and a bigger marketing push they can nail something special with a State of Decay 3.

I would love for them to resurrect franchises like Fable, Banjo-Kazooie, Perfect Dark, and even how Phil mentioned Mech Assault.

                  Does anyone know this:

Will the new Xbox support games that can upload external images?

                  For example...

The Xbox 360 could handle it for games like PES where you could upload created images

                  For XB1 this wasn't possible.

I don't think anyone knows that with any certainty, not sure if that's a platform limitation or a game limitation.

Is it time to start asking if these consoles will really launch this year in what is most likely going to be a completely shot economy?

The nice thing w/ this ecosystem is the software isn't dependent on the hardware, and vice versa. They could push the launch to spring (I don't expect this to happen) and all the related software could still launch and be playable.

I'll be playing a lot of these titles on PC anyways myself.

I was just reading about the Series X being on the Xbox All Access subscription plan. That's huge considering the financial toll and uncertainty that this virus is having on business and individuals.
