Halo wasn't impressive at all. Gameplay and Graphics didn't scream next gen to me, just looks like the same old thing.

Yes agree completely. That was a massive letdown I expected much more.

        Re: Xbox Games Showcase Discussion

Ok so I give this show a 6 out of 10

Some points I need to say

Halo Infinite from day 1 I saw that this was not going to be what God Of War was to the franchise. Sony took a chance and it paid off by completely changing the game.

Halo Infinite is trying to rekindle the original CE game and this was a rough demo. The fact that they are telling you it will be a story game in the same Infinite world for future releases means this is a paid service game and that to me already screams not a Triple A

There is no Ray Tracing and it is a more open world then anything ever done in Halo plus is 60fps which is super important. I think the multi player in this game is what is going to blow people away and be the driving force of engagement.

I am not a fan of State of Decay but this 3rd version looks very interesting if they can turn into into a survivor horror story driven game kinda like Last of us on the Sony console....Time will tell

Forza seems like was the one game that would have shown the huge power in the box but you can tell that this game is far from ready since they showed no actual gameplay. But rest assure this game will be the greatest looking racing sim when it releases.

I wanted to see Hellblade but they had no gameplay which was dissapointing as that game looks amazing but this tells me they are releasing gameplay in August.

The rest of the games are meh and of no interest to me except Fable which was big to close the show as Fable is a huge I.P for the company and it will see a lot of copies. But we are far from release which is why you saw nothing of gameplay.

I felt MS needed to show more games with more actual gameplay but they seem to not be as good as Sony when it comes to these type of situations.

I expect their August show to be better but they cannot get more passes on shows being Amazing any more.

I hope in August they show Madden 21 next gen gameplay

I hope they show Perfect Dark

I hope they get the license to COD but not holding out hope

Definitely shows the great value of Gamepass. To have immediate day one access to these games at the lowest price of 10.99/month, is fantastic value. Then when you throw in XCloud, it gives it the chance to become the Netflix of gaming with Switch-like portability. That's what they are selling you on. I'm hoping PSNow steps it up more. Where I would never expect day and date 1PS games on PSNow, but like to see overall performance of PSNow improved and more occuring past titles that are optimized for PS5

While it'll be a couple years when you see those Series X exclusives that take full advantage of hardware, I definitely think Series X will shine most in Multiplatform games. I do think in most AAA Multi-Plat games that SX will look better compared to PS5.

Halo was on PC and not series X. I'm still getting both systems just a bit dissapointed.

Yeah, don't know why they are not yet showing games running on the Series X with it being 4 months until release. Even if it is a demo, Halo is the flagship IP for Xbox. They should shown it running on hardware. That probably explains all the visual pop-ins.
It is disappointing that it won't have Ray tracing at launch. It seems like Halo could benefit from being delayed further. But seems like there is a lot of pressure for it to be a launch title since the other major AAA won't be ready until 2022 and after. Still rather Halo a Series X exclusive. Yeah it was a demo that was running on PC, but like many said, it looks like a Xbox One game that is Optimized for Series X.

If you’ve been playing video games longer than 12 months and you needed this Xbox reveal to decide your next gen purchased, you must be trolling. I’ve never based what console I was purchasing on a few games at launch. I’ve been surprised by some games and disappointment by other one on both systems.

As a person who buys both, I’ve seen pros and cons on both platforms and expect this gen to be no different. None of the games they showed really wowed me at all, but I’ll still buy a Series X cause there will plenty of games to come down the line. I’ll also buy the PS5 to play the Last of Us 2 and other exclusives. Hopefully by 2022, developers will be releasing games using the full capabilities of both units.

Sure but that was a terrible showing.. halo looked awful. So that absolutely concerns me as a massive halo fan that was kind of waiting to see how it looked. I'm someone that was on the fence there's not that many games on xbox that intrigue me, so yes this showing may have at least nudged me in the direction of buying.

I’ve had both Xbox and PlayStation this generation but can not decide which to preorder this time around. I was hoping to be blown away yesterday but that was obviously wishful thinking. I much prefer Sony’s exclusives but really like the ease of game pass and I play mostly sports games so it’s tempting to get the Xbox because it is the most powerful system this generation.

I guess whichever company lets you preorder first will probably get my purchase since I’m torn anyways.

Nothing that convinced me I need to buy one at launch.

Looks like I won't be jumping to next gen until 2022 or 2023.

Everyone should know historically that launch games aren't really plentiful and amazing, and this'll happen with both PS5 and Xbox Series X...Not really sure what people were expecting, but the value this gives with Game Pass is seriously killer. I don't think either PS5 or Xbox Series X will really "wow" given that whatever Wow games you expect probably don't exist.

Again, I thought the show was a good but not great 7.5/10. Same as Sony's June event. Way too many Indies/AA titles that the vast majority just don't want to see on a top tier major show and no gameplay for Fable, Hellblade 2 and Everwild.

As for Halo, I watched it twice and yeah, it doesn't look amazing but it doesn't look bad either. In fact, far from it. More importantly, the gunplay, shooting mechanics and gameplay looks really good. The demo is at least a few months old which considering everything going on, isn't surprising.

As someone who's a PS4 guy, Sony disappointed me in regards to their console. It's not what I wanted. Way too much emphasis on the SSD which outside of their internal studios, no one is going to fully utilize, not a fan of the smart shift aspect because as games become more CPU heavy as the gen progresses, it's going to be held back due to developers and publishers wanting to max out the GPU. Also, im fully expecting 100% a PS5 Pro in Fall 2023 so chances are, I'll just wait.

But Xbox Series X is day one. Yeah, they've haven't had the best showings especially when it comes to demonstrating the capabilities of the console but I know it's simply superior and as someone who's completed games in a generation will be 80% or higher in favor of multi-platform titles, I want those games to be the best they can be on consoles since that's what will take up the vast majority of my gaming time.

Add in that I literally hate the touchpad on the PS4 controller and was hoping Sony was going to get rid of it, gave Series X a second advantage for me. Then, I look at Game Pass. And yeah, let me save hundreds of dollars which can be used for more multi-platform games in general.

I have 35 games already on my futurelog games list for next gen. 4 of them are PS5 exclusives but the other 31 games are either Series X exclusives or multi-platform games.

Launch wise, im looking at Halo Infinite, Gears Tactics, The Medium, The Ascent, Second Extinction, Crossfire X (campaign), Ori and the Will of the Wisps, The Avengers, Watch Dogs Legion, Outriders, Assassin's Creed Valhalla and Cyberpunk 2077.

Won't speak for anyone else but I have more than enough games for launch as well as December/January/February. Hell, im hoping Far Cry 6 gets delayed a month just to give me extra time to play all those games.

Best of all, within the next two weeks, I will be buying a new TV stand, gaming chair and the LG CX 48" OLED. Four more months to go and honestly, I wish it would go by faster than it currently is. Hehehe.

Halo looked awful imo. I have watched it multiple times. Having good gunplay has always been a staple of halo so I dont see that being some huge positive. The gameplay looked terribly dated.. besides graphics and the graphics ain't even that spectacular, that looks like something that was done 5 years ago.

I don't think Halo looked awful. Not even close. I can understand not meeting expectations or being underwhelming though.

I have never played a Halo game so it having good shooting mechanics, gunplay and gameplay in general is great for me since combat/gameplay is my number one priority for every game.

                              To each their own though.

I'm glad you liked it.. the general consensus was it looked pretty bad. The gameplay looked like typical halo 1-3 and coming from a HUGE halo fan I think I wanted more at this point. The world looked static. I felt like It could have been a faster moving version of halo 1.

Having said all this I have faith the next showing will wow me.
