Next-Gen Sports Console
I'm thinking about buying a new console at launch for the first time in my life. The only games I play are strictly sports games like Madden, NBA2k/NBA Live, NHL, PGA 2k and RBI baseball since I currently have an Xbox. I always buy the latest version so backwards compatibility doesn't mean as much to me. Most sports games are on each system so is there anything else other than price to separate Xbox series X/S vs PS5 in my situation?Tags: None -
Re: Next-Gen Sports Console
Games will possibly run better on Series X. Also whichever console your friends on. PS5 controller could also make a difference with Haptic Feedback. Too many unknowns at the moment.Last edited by 49UNCFan; 09-08-2020, 10:48 PM.Youtube- https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC1Y...YHoeFjXQJ2Ps4g

Re: Next-Gen Sports Console
If you mainly play sports games, the only thing you should worry about is what console all your friends play on.
Let's be honest, though.. going the cheapest console route will probably be your best bet since we know sports games have not changed much lately.--
Have you ever wanted to coach or play basketball at the next level, but something prevented you from achieving that dream? Fret no more. Ask me about SimWorld Hoops to see how you can create your virtual self, and follow your path from the prep-level to the pros.

Re: Next-Gen Sports Console
I'm strictly an offline gamer since I have a family and only play when I have time so I don't even play with friends online. I'm also not upgrading my tv to get hdmi 2.1 but my current tv does offer 4k, HDR and native 120mhz so I'm thinking it's either XBox Series S or the digital version of the PS5 since that has actual 4k but will I really know the difference for the potential $100 difference that is being rumored.Comment

Re: Next-Gen Sports Console
I wouldn't purchase the Series S. Either X or Ps5.

Re: Next-Gen Sports Console
I'm hoping the show is coming to xbox and then I'd say I think it'll be slightly better for performance but probably not huge. You will get EA Play soon for game pass so added value there

Re: Next-Gen Sports Console
In my opinion PS5 would be the best bet for an exclusive sports gamer. Most games are cross platform but until it's confirmed for Xbox, you'll definitely have The Show for PS5. Also, if you play the PES series, the option files only work on PS.Comment

Re: Next-Gen Sports Console
The announcement last year said as early as 2021 which would be in March when the show comes out and both Nintendo and Microsoft retweeted that announcement as the 2 consoles that will be taking part
The show on xbox series X should be the best performing and looking version based on spec alone but you are up to the mercy of the devsComment

Re: Next-Gen Sports Console
Cheaper than ever to jump into high end PC gaming!!!
But to answer your question - sports games on the consoles are so close (although I’d lean Xbox running slightly better), if all your other wants are tied (games, friends), I would just go with the console with the controller you like the most.Comment

Not to mention, if you get a good enough CPU, you can emulate sports games from the past.Comment

Re: Next-Gen Sports Console
Honestly, if you're strictly an offline player, this is the best answer. You can build a good performing PC for your living room around the same price as a console. Plus, you get the added benefits of mods for all the games. Downside, there is no simulation baseball on PC yet. The Super Mega Baseball series is very good though.

Re: Next-Gen Sports Console
Xbox series X should be slightly more powerful. PS5 will be I believe twice as fast. Depends what means more to you.MLB: Texas Rangers
Soccer: FC Dallas, Fleetwood Town
NCAA: SMU, UTA
NFL: Dallas Cowboys
NHL: Dallas Stars
NBA: Dallas Mavericks
I own a band check it outComment
