Alternate Reality...A truly evil Sony gets pissed at the retailers jumping the gun. Sony tells them to cancel all pre orders that occured on the 16th. So all those people at work or sleep resting easy thinking they got a brand new PS5 are now at the back of the line mwhahahaha.

I know it would never happen, that would be PR suicide but it would be truly a big f u to a lot of folks.

Well that’s a bummer. No email for me and Best Buy doesn’t want my money either. Guess all my hopes rest on Amazon at this point and I’m not too confident.

This may be the 1st ever launch where I didn’t get a console day 1.

Do retailers get any consoles to stock on the shelves on release day? Or does the first batch always go to preorders only? I was deployed for the last console releases, so I don't know how this usually goes.

I think they do sometimes. I believe that my brother was able to get a PS4 without pre-ordering day 1. People will also cancel. IT's slim, but I think possible.

Most retailers are probably going to have multiple waves of these preorders

If that was to happen i would not buy a ps5 for a long time.

I got my pre order at target and my cc was charged in full

I just read the FAQ in target on how the handle pre orders and charges and this sucks

                      Pre-order questions

When will I be charged for a pre-order?
When you place a pre-order, Target will send an authorization hold request to your card issuer. The authorization hold is not an actual charge and will eventually expire and drop off the account based upon the time frame set by your card-issuing bank. If the authorization hold expires before the item’s release date or before the order is ready to be shipped, the authorization will automatically renew. If any attempt to renew the authorization fails, the order will automatically be cancelled. You won’t be charged for your order until it ships.

If you used a regular credit card then you are good but I used a debit card and each time Target re-authorizes my funds better have enough or it will cancel.

Pathetic way of doing this, should just charge me now or authorize small amount only

Hopefully they do a better job of managing them going forward.

Agreed. I used a debit card as well. I guess I'll just have to make sure at least $550 is in there at all times. SMH!!!

This is why you always use a credit card if you have one.
