For those looking, follow this awesome guy on twitter: https://twitter.com/Wario64

Someone else in the XS thread suggested him.

He's the reason I found out about the Sony Direct thing, or I would've been SOL, because Target's app and website stopped working/wouldn't take the payment when I got the PS5 in the cart.

      Best Buy is live.

      Relatively painless.

.. Costco posted their bundle. But it says sold out, and not shipping until Turkey Day.

So I got on the Walmart site about 5 minutes early and continuously hit refresh hoping to luck out and about 2 minutes after noon I got lucky and saw the 'add to cart' button so I clicked it, took me to the shopping cart, went to check out and the site crashed. I hit refresh for about 10 minutes and it finally came back up. Went back to my cart and it removed it from my cart and said "out of stock". What a bunch of B.S. , I literally had it in my cart and was ready to pay!! It shows up as saved for later but I HIGHLY doubt itll add it back to my cart when they release the next wave of PS5s. I'm destined to get screwed out of buying one somehow

This is probably the most chaotic cluster#@#% of a launch nightmare that I've ever seen, including the PS3. So many people missed out on the first opportunity to preorder because they didn't really let anybody know what day preorders would be going up until it was too late. They did an extremely limited second preorder which sold out in like 3 hours. Playstation 3 was a headache on launch day but at least they had some kind of supply available to buy, just had to get there early. Playstation 4 was no issue at all to preorder, they gave plenty of heads up so most everybody who wanted one was able to purchase. I do realize we are in the middle of a pandemic, completely get that, but it still shouldnt have been this difficult to preorder.

100% agree. The 3 pm supply at WM was even worse than the noon. The site crashed within seconds.

Does anyone know if Amazon is getting any in stock today? Or did I already miss that? I didn't see any info about it.

Why not just do good old fashioned pre-orders?? First come, first served. Pay up front, or with a deposit.

Are retailers that lazy these days? I find that really hard to believe, given what I see as insane demand, and with a massive recession staring everyone in the face.

                  Just pathetic, really.

Literally my exact thoughts as well. I'd be totally fine with not getting one until Black Friday or Christmas if I knew id forsure have one. Especially for me.

Back when preorders started, COVID hadn't hit me that hard, and I could afford preorders for both consoles. But now it has, and I traded in my consoles in anticipation, and I dont even know when they'll be back in stock.

This whole fiasco was just so avoidable.

A lot of why everything is online is due to the current pandemic we find ourselves in. Retailers are trying to limit the masses in the stores in an effort to protect their employees and attempt to follow Covid guidelines.

It has nothing to do with laziness as I'm sure all of these retailers would be glad to be open for business as usual, but unfortunately in these times, that isn't possible.
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

I think I could have had 2 as well. Costco launched their ad right as I was checking out at Best Buy.

(Not judging you, you have the right to do what you like) but I hope most double-buyers return their units, rather than gore the folks that missed out due to this absolute cluster..

I have no problem whatsoever with keeping people out of stores. I don't see how that is a prerequisite
                          for doing a pre-order.

Pre-orders could have been done online, completely safe. They obviously knew their inventory, or they wouldn't have had Walmart doing staggered releases. And they could have made people pre-pay in full to prevent people buying up all the stock.

Sorry, Covid or not, this was a gong show.

I'm not looking to take advantage of anyone. I posted the bundle for exactly what I paid. I'm sure it's easier to return than sell it to someone on here, but I thought I'd at least try and help someone out. When I initially ordered the bundle, I was very excited, but it was pricey.

I don't see a valid reason why they couldn't do an old fashioned pre-order system. It can be done online, completely safe. They obviously knew their inventory, or they wouldn't have had Walmart doing staggered releases. And they could have made people pre-pay in full to prevent people buying up all the stock.

They did do "old fashioned" pre-orders online and much like with the launch day free for all consoles, they are being fought over and unfortunately in cases being bought by bots.

And pre-orders are essentially pre-paid in advance and I don't know how that would've deterred people from buying up all the stock? You have to have the funds available to pre-order and its typically taken out of your account periodically during the pre-order to launch timeframe to ensure funds are available.

There's no doubt this is a mess, but its what is to be expected when you do online only sales, and unfortunately there will always be those who find ways to "cheat" the system.
