      I believe the last number is the # of miles you are from the broadcast towers in your area. When you get an antenna it has the range (in miles) that it can pick up. FOr example, this is my antenna: http://www.radioshack.com/product.as...t%5Fid=15-2152

      It has a range of
      vhf=90 miles
      uhf=70 miles

            so let me get this straight. I throw that up in my attic (sadly, I don't think there is attic space above where my TV is!!) run the cord down the wall and then drop it into whatever HDTV tuner I have, correct?

                  yes, that is it. You need to find out what direction the broadcast towers are so you can aim the antenna in that direction.

                        A bunch of people in the area have said to try the indoor antenna first, some silver sensor thing.

                              I didn't have good luck with the 3 indoor antenna's I tried. Actually, I had very bad luck. Got nothing, the one from Radio Shack (the link is a few pages back) actually got me Fox, but that was it. The Terk one got NOTHING. I am buried behind some trees though, so that could be my problem.
