Well, after months of research I finally took the HD plunge. Yesterday a couple of delivery men dropped this thing off at my house.

I want to thank you guys for this great thread. I've learned a lot.
Last weekend I was surprised when my wife said we should take a look at TVs. I said ok, so we headed to 4 different stores. (Fry's, CC, Good Guys, Tweeter) My wife fell in love with the GWIII. I warned her about the problems that the TV had/has, but she didn't care. The best deal we could find was from Good Guys. The manager knocked off $300 off the regular price, so I was able to pick up the 50" for $2999. I figured it wasn't bad since the 42" sold for $2799. For anyone doing research for this TV, I have a March 2004 build.
The Cox cable guys will be making a stop at my house today. I'll be getting my HD package through them. (Don't worry KDRE I'll be watching VOOM very closely) Cox offers an HD DVR, which will also be hooked up today.
Last night I played a few DVDs Finding Nemo, Star Wars Ep II, and Elmo's World. (Hey, my daughter wanted to watch Elmo) I also put in most of my games to see what they would look like. Right now I'm in awe of MVP 04.
Regular cable came in okay on this TV. It wasn't great, but it wasn't that bad either. While watching sportscenter last night I had the normal view on, because I couldn't get into the Full, Zoom, Wide Zoom modes. Maybe they will grow on me.
