Help me out here guys..
Im moving out this week to another apartment. I currently have Charter Digital Cable with the HD package.
At my new apt, the options are:
Comcast Digital Cable
Direct TV.
I guess i need a couple of questions answered to make a decision:
1. For standard Definition broadcasts, is DTV any clearer than Digital Cable? And if it is, how much clearer is it. Reason being there are very few HD channels anyway... so will probably be watching mostly SD broadcasts
The above question may be moot, because i am currently not certain if the apt im moving into is facing the South West, if not, i will be unable to use DTV.
For this reason, I may only have Comcast as an option.
I was thinking of getting comcast along with their HD package(they dont have ABC in HD) and then supplement this by getting an HD receiver and antenna for receiving OTA broadcasts in my area...
Problem here is I wouldnt have enough inputs on my TV(DVI - cable, comp1 = DVD, comp2 - Xbox)...
Anyone know of any solution to this problem??
I still have to find out if DTV would work in my apt sometime tomorrow...going there with a compass..lol
Thanks for any input guys, this s--- is confusing!

let's see if we can help you out.
1. As for me there really isn't that much difference between the digital cable and D* in terms of clarity. D* is a little clearer but not by much because of all of the compression that they've been doing recently.
2. Do you have a home theatre setup? when i say this i mean dolby digital and such? if so check the back of your receiver. Depending on the model and how new it is you should be able to plug in component, s-video and everything else. that way you can free up some connections on your tv. if you can't do that, i suggest getting a component video switcher. you should be able to pick up a good one at ultimate electronics or tweeter.
3. Even though your apt faces in the opposite way doesn't mean you can't get the dish. you can mount it on a pole and have it face that way. i see it done here all the time.
I hope that this helps you somewhat. if you have any other questions, let us know. we're here for you
