For various reasons, 30" to 34" inches pretty well suits my needs right now. Not to say I wouldn't get a bigger TV if money were no object. But, right now, I just want the best TV I can get in my price-range - quality of picture and features is much higher on my list than is the difference between 32" and 42" of screen-size. I understand other people might find that strange, that's just me.

I couldn't find much on the 42" inch Sony you mentioned, but from what I understand, the trade-off for it being bigger is that some (or all) of the 32" models I listed may be slightly ahead in terms of quality, features, and reliability. Also, I don't exactly understand the difference between flat-panel LCDs (the four 32" models) and rear-projection LCDs (the 42" Sony) - aren't the former better?

Anyone else have any opinions on any or all of these models?

Trust me, you'll want to go bigger.. I bought the 42inch Sony & thought it was too big, a few weeks after having the TV I think it's too small, & am kicking myself for not getting a 50incher..

I think I've settled on this television and will probably pick it up sometime around/right after Christmas.

Well, my current TV (analog, not HD) is actually the 27" Sony WEGA. I've been ok with the size of it, and 32" would obviously be a bit of an upgrade in size. But my budget is what it is, and it seems as if I can afford either a crappy 42" or a very nice 32" tv. Given all the aspects of my situation, I think a very nice 32" will make me happier than a crappy 42".

Anyone know what model this is? I still think I'm going to end up with one of the four I noted. Usually researching and buying an electronic device (mp3 player, stereo, my last TV) is something I enjoy almost as much as the actual purchase, but in this case I'm just completely frustrated. There are just way too many options and no way to tell how to get the most for money with any certainty. I'm tempted to just go with either the Samsung 32" or the Panasonic 32" at this point because they've gotten the most solid customer reviews.

I'm not sure about the other sets at all though. I'm heard different things about Samsung and nothing about Magnabox, but the only one you have linked up there that is widescreen is that 26".

For 1,500 you can get a 50plus CRT RP HDTV.. If you get a 32inch HDTV, after awhile you will have 2nd thoughts about going bigger. When I bought my Sony, no one could convince me to go bigger.. I told them 42inch's will be fine.. I have a small bedroom... They were right.. Once you see the beauty of HD & HD gaming, you will want a bigger display.. It's the nature of the beast.. This is coming from someone whose biggest TV was 27inches.. I too thought 30-32inches would be fine..

I certainly understand your point. From a style standpoint, obviously a flat-panel TV is preferable to a CRT, but I realize that CRTs are way cheaper. One thing I've heard is that, with CRT HDTVs, you start to lose picture quality once you get up to 42" screens - don't know if this is true or not. The other piece of the puzzle is that this TV is really only for the next year, maybe year and a half. After that I figure to settle down somewhere, at which point I'll be able to justify getting a bigger and more expensive TV.

With all that said, I'd definitely like to go flat-panel this go round, and 42" flat-panels are simply out of my price-range. That will change in the near future, but I want HD for my 360 gaming right now, so I'm pretty set on getting the best 32" flat-panel I can get in the $1500 range.

The regular price for that set is $600 at Circuit City, and with the Holiday Season starting up, it'll probably be at around $500 for the next month, maybe less on Friday.

yeah Its alittle high for me to but, it seems like all the other tvs I have talked about keep getting like shot down. Let me know what tv you might go with if this tvs price is too high.
