Hop back a few pages, it's been linked 2 times here I think. I have a buddy who has that set, he likes it. I've never actually seen it, but never heard anything bad about it. Someone posted that Best Buy will be selling the Insignia 30" HDTV on Friday for $499.99, if so, that's a better deal IMO.

        Panny HDTV CT 30X15

Circuit City has this set on sale actually. Normally priced at $899 and on sale for $649. Looks like a good deal, IMO. I'm not sure if I would trust picking up an Insignia set though. Anyway, I'd probably pick that Panny up if it was wide-screen.

As it stands, here's the set I'll probably end up getting within the next two months. Panny HDTV: Widescreen CT 26X15

650 is pretty much a steal for namebrand, widescreen HDTV. I was just saying the Insignia for someone looking for an even cheaper 30".

By the way, the Panny I'll most likely end up purchasing is marked down from $600 to $500.

What are the best DVD players for HDTVs? I was browsing Circuit City's DVD player selection and saw a couple that were HiDef or whatever.

By the way, how much are surround systems now-a-days?

IMO you don't need a HD-DVD player. Any DVD player that supports progressive scan will work fine. As for surround sound systems, you're opening up a can of worms. You can get a home-theater-in-a-box for around $400 or $500 that sound decent but any components you buy seperately will cost more however will sound much much better.

Seeing how most of you are down on Insignia how about this for a cheap HDTV?

Sears will have it for 369.99 on Black Friday. I know its not a widescreen, but is it that important considering there still aren't that much HD channels yet.

This Insignia still has me hooked in too however.

                        399.99 on Black Friday.

What would you guys go with, or any other alternitives with basically a budget of $400. I know its not alot to work with but there seem to be a few deals where you could get a decent HDTV for $400 or a little less.

Alright, after reading through the last bunch of pages, I have decided that I'm half tempted to pick up an HD set for the gameroom. Right now, we have a 65" Mitsu medallion Cinema series big screen for the primary TV. My fiance wants an LCD. I don't want to spend a whole lot on it, however I will be doing a lot of gaming on it, so I do want it to be pretty good. I'd say 27-37" should be suffice. Any opinions for a limited budget?
