I use it too. All it does it help you get all your setting right (contrast, brightness etc.) Also helps with setting up surround sound if you have one.My Fan Page http://theusualgamer.net/MyFanPage_Heelfan71.aspx

Heel I also bought a cheap HDMI cable on ebay for $10, you think that a monster HDMI cable would be better....N.Y Mets

I doubt you could tell a difference with your eyes. i don't think the monster cables are worth the extra $$$ either.Originally posted by FootballForeveryeah...

I use a DVI cable. My tv is older and doesnt have a HDMI jack on it.Originally posted by FootballForeverSo do you think I should get the Video Essentials video, like will it make a huge difference.

I have never compared HDMI vs. Component . I think its always best to use the best connection you have on your tv though, which would be HDMI. When I said you probably couldn't tell a difference, I was talking about the HDMI cable you bought off ebay compared to a high dollar HDMI cable made by Monster Cable. My Fan Page http://theusualgamer.net/MyFanPage_Heelfan71.aspx

yeah, they are worth it. You will be surprised at how off some of your settings probably are too. Most people have their tv's set too bright thinking it looks better, but once you use the dics you will start noticing the picture looks better. My Fan Page http://theusualgamer.net/MyFanPage_Heelfan71.aspx

Re: HDTV Questions and Answer Thread
Yeah, the disc is really good, it'll help you get the best picture. My advice, set it using the disc, and turn off the TV for the night. Then the next day, turn it back on and let your eyes adjust for a little bit. Trust me, it's most likely going to be way off from the colors/brightness that you have the set currently set at. I've seen many people set their TV with the disc, then start watching it and go "that doesn't look right" and change it right back! LOLOriginally posted by FootballForeverHeel thanks a lot buddy
I use a HDMI out from my Cable box to my TV, I got a cheapo one from Best Buy for 20 bucks. I wouldn't buy Monster either.Comment

yeah, most likely you will think the picture looks too dark at first. But it takes a few days for your eyes to adjust to it.My Fan Page http://theusualgamer.net/MyFanPage_Heelfan71.aspx

Re: HDTV Questions and Answer Thread
My two cents regarding the calibration DVD's. Definately use one, but from my research the DVE disc is better. It has more recent information, more color ramps and tests, and most important, the disc can output blacker than black and whiter than white signals. If you use HDMI for your DVD player (or other DVD players), you will be able to see a third blacker than black bar on the brightness test. It allows more precise black levels, which then translate to better gray scale and if you can get contrast right, better whites. For the new HDTV's, this is a very important reference to have.Originally posted by FootballForeverguys I bought an HDMI cable off of ebay 2 weeks ago, I paid $10 for it, I see a lot of HDMI cables going for like anywhere from $30 To $100, now be honest does it really matter wich one you buy or not? I'm thinking they all do the same thing.
Also has anyone ever used teh Avia dvd to do the display Calibration on there TV?
And yes, the picture will look darker, but it will look tons better. Watching football this past weekend with my calibrated settings of lower brightness and contrast, no edge enhancement and better colors was truly amazing. Well recommended. Hell, you spent a couple grand on your home theater...why hedge on whether to drop twenty bucks on a DVD that will enable you to properly set the picture settings?
