HD-Ready: Fully capable of high-definition display when connected to an optional HDTV source (over-the-air, satellite or digital-cable set-top box). Conventional analog TV reception is provided via a built-in NTSC tuner.Originally posted by triplej96K, well my bros tv it looks all strecthed out the image? the info sait it is set on 720 x 240 that is right setting right? why does his picture look crappy not like they do at best buy lol? we have no cords going to cable box or anything just hooked cable up to tv???

You have to have HD service and a box from the cable company to view TV in HD. You could also buy a HD antenna to receive "over the air" HD signal. Hooking a cable up to the TV will not cut it. It will work for 360 and DVDs but not watching tV.NFL: Tennessee Titans

Re: HDTV Questions and Answer Thread
HD ready & HD monitor are the same.. & it's not HDTV monitor.. The reason they use monitor & not HDTV isdue to FCC regulations that require tuners in TV's over a certain size.. So manufactuers get by this by making a HD 'monitor'.. It's also a cost cutting measure.. Both HD ready & HD monitors need a external HD tuner to receive over the Broadcast in HD..Originally posted by Fresh TendrilsIt does matter. HDTV Ready = you have everything you need to watch DVDs & TV and play video games in HiDef. HDTV Monitor = you can play video games in HiDef and watch DVDs in HiDef, but you'll need a HD reciever for channels. HDTV capable, I'm not entirely sure, but I'd assume you would to pay for more than just a HD reciever to get HiDef.
They haven't started making HD DVD players, so no you don't need one.Redskins Fan. The 82 Smurfs will never die. 83/88/92 NFL world champions!!

Unless you use a VGA cable with your Xbox360..Originally posted by jondiehl1366x728 is their native resolution. 720p is, 1280x720.
Since the display is not a native HD resolution (close, just a few too many lines of resolution each direction), it will always have to scale the image to 1366x728.
VGA cables support pc resolutions, components do not.. & seen a screen shot of about 4-5 different resolutions to choose from, even 1280X1024..

Re: HDTV Questions and Answer Thread
Might be able to help. I was looking for the same thing yesterday. Target, Walmat, Best Buy and Circuit City were the usual suspects. I specifically wanted a progressive scan DVD player with HDMI hookups. Walmart was the only one that had oneOriginally posted by Fresh TendrilsCould somebody recommend a good DVD player to go along with a HDTV? I watched a lot of movies on my Xbox and I want to cut out watching DVDs on the 360. I don't want to spend more than $100-150.
under $100 http://www.walmart.com/catalog/produ...uct_id=3610578
Best Buy had a few that started in the $150-200 range.
At the end of the day, $80 was about all i wanted to spend. And the other advantage is Walmart is 5 minutes away vs. the other stores which are at least 20 min. away if i have to make a return

Interesting. I always thought they were different because I flip through the different ads and they'll have a TV say thats "HD monitor" right next to a "HD Ready" set. Confusing.Originally posted by koolbubbaiceHD ready & HD monitor are the same.. & it's not HDTV monitor.. By the way, the 26" Panasonic HDTV is now done to $400, marked down $200 from $599.

That's the only DVD player with HDMI I could find on the Circuit City website and probably the one I'll pick up with my TV.

Re: HDTV Questions and Answer Thread
So next question.....that Panasonic Fresh is talking about doesn't have a built in digital receiver, what does this mean now and down the road? I know that all TV will be switched to digital in 2008 or something like that, this means I will have to buy some kind of add on in order to get any sort of cable into that TV once that time comes? Does it make any difference now until they do that change over? And finally, is it worth it to pass up that Panasonic (apparently a great deal) in order to get something with a built in digital receiver?
I'm beginning to gain a slight knowledge of HDTV's and that one looks really good to me for the price, the only thing I can see that is missing would be a digital tuner, but I'm just not sure how big of a deal that is.
And just to clearify, an HDTV-Ready set and a HDTV-Monitor are the same thing, correct?Comment

Ha.Originally posted by CM1847To all of my questions?
I'm not sure on digital tuners, but I noticed a lot of other TVs didn't have any type of tuners featured, whether it was analog/HD/digital/etc.
