Re: HDTV Questions and Answer Thread
Your TV is overscanning on 1080i. The only game I have that issue with is PDZ, and from reading forums, everyone has overscan issues on PDZ. All TV's are about 5-10% overscanned when they come from the factory.Originally posted by Gilateen -

You all will have to pardon me. I tried reading through the thread, but 150 pages is too much. Hope I can still get some help.
I'm looking for a 32"-34" widescreen/HD tv. I'm going with either LCD or tube. I'll be watching cable w/HD box, DVDs and playing video games(PS2 & eventually XBox 360 or PS3). What inputs and features should I be looking for? HDMI, DVI, ect.?
Also, can someone tell me if the PS2 supports the widescreen format? And specifically, does NBA 2K6 and CHoops 2K6(I know it's not out yet on the PS2) support the widescreen format?
Thanks!Shout out to The Watcher! Where you at bruh?Comment

I've been looking for basically the same thing as you for about 2 months now. From your comments I assume gaming is important to you.Originally posted by BezOYou all will have to pardon me. I tried reading through the thread, but 150 pages is too much. Hope I can still get some help.

Anyway, my budget is in the $1500 - $1900 range, and what I've learned so far has led me to narrow it down to the 32" lcd flat-panels from Sony, Sharp, Panasonic, and Samsung. They all seem to be pretty comparable in terms of pq and features - I suppose I should mention here that, while getting the most for my money is a very big deal for me, I am not one of those guys on avsforum who lives for having the best pq and notices the slightest difference from tv to tv.
I would also mention that if the style and convenience of a flat-panel is not a huge deal for you, you would probably do just fine getting a CRT HDTV. You'd save a ton of money and, from everything I've heard, wouldn't lose much, if anything, in pq. The best CRT from what I've seen is the Sony 34" XBR. Of course, that model costs about $1899 at Best Buy. CNET.com, for instance, states that this model still remains the standard by which all other CRT HDTVs are measured. But other quality 30" - 34" inch CRT HDTVs come in under $1000.
Hope some of that helps.Comment

Re: HDTV Questions and Answer Thread
Looks like I missed out on it. As I got home from work tonight, I got an email from my credit card company saying that at certain hours of the day, they'd be selling certain products at tremendously dropped off prices. 50 of those Pannys (new) for $750 at 7PM. I tried but there was too much traffic on the site so I guess I missed it.Originally posted by DmanchildFor $750 it sure as hell is. I wish I could afford it - what's your hookup?
I've heard bad things about Plasmas, but for $750? I said why not get it if I can. That's an incredible bargain. I was actually excited for a hot minute.

From everything that I read, LCDs are not the way to go for gaming. LCD RPs are ok, but LCD in general tend to have a lot of problems.Originally posted by Tha_KidLCD TV

Re: HDTV Questions and Answer Thread
From best to worst for gaming:
DLP
CRT
LCD
PLASMA
I would suggest getting no smaller than a 30" though unless it is for a room that isn't too big. If you can spring for a $600-$700 TV, it will be worth it for those 4 extra inches.Comment

Re: HDTV Questions and Answer Thread
I have one DLP (Samsung 50") and 1 LCD (32" Sharp Aquos), both look great. I can't tell a big difference in gaming between the two. The LCD TV looks great and I have had no problems with it.Originally posted by jpupFrom everything that I read, LCDs are not the way to go for gaming. I picked up this TV a little while ago. Been very happy with it.
2 component inputs, 1 S-Video input, 2 composite inputs, and an HDMI input.
Comes with a nice stand, and also came with wall mounting kit. When watching TV, HD pictures look outstanding, and SD transmissions look a lot better than I have seen on a lot of HDTV's.
Performance has been great on all my gaming systems also. I have been very happy with this TV.Comment
