    Re: King Kong

One of the managers at the movie theatre I work at saw it early (last week) and said it was everything he expected and more. He said that whoever editted the movie will get an Oscar nod because the 3 hours fly by that fast (he said the beginning was slow-paced, but it needed to do it that way).

My opinion is that if Peter Jackson is directing it, it'll be great. Reviews from critics are great, the trailer looks awesome, and someone I trust liked it. I'm seeing it next Tuesday (13th).

Speaking of giving new life to the "old monster genre" I saw on movies.com where there's a "Blob" remake in the works.

Okay, so I don't exactly know the King Kong story... but isn't he supposed to be love-stricken over Naomi Watts' character or something?

Also, there seem to be a lot of effects, so I can't say that they didn't try. However, you can distinguish CGI with that one Manhattan skyline shot in an instant (I saw it in a commercial), and it didn't look pretty. I sure hope the effects are much better than what I have been seeing.

I'm still off to see this one, though.

I just rented and finished the game on XBOX and if the movie is as exciting as the game then it will be worth seeing on the big screen. I only see 1 or 2 movies in the theatres per year but this will be one of them. I'm not a LOTR fan so Jackson doesnt do much for me yet, I cant stomach Jack Black and yet I'm still anxious to see it.

Here's one of the first reviews of King Kong from a movie review site I've frequented over the past four years:

            King Kong Review

Whoever said/thinks this movie was going to be a "total disaster" is dead wrong.

I may actually leave work a little early on Wednesday to check it out.

i just saw the movie last night. was pretty cool, the t-rex scenes are awesome! it is REALLY long tho...over 3 hours i think. its not as great as the hype, but what is really? i think they did a good job with Kong. they really humanized him. like he would laugh and pout and what not. and it was believable. and jack black did a decent job as well

                  **spoiler**

the ending....Adrian Brody's nose and Kong have a fight to the death. and in the end adrians nose wins. cos that thing is just soooo overwhelming!

I can't wait to see this. Naomi Watts is probably my fav actress at the moment and the FX and storyline seems pretty awesome. The only drawback is having to spend roughly 5 hours to watch this thing (from standing in line, to sitting through the trailers and the 3 hour movie).

Saw this last Thursday. Very good movie but I liked Jackson's work with lord of the rings better. The first 45 minutes or so kind of dragged but once they got to Skull island it picked up.

Don't know If I liked Jack black and Adrian Brody in their roles, but watts was perfect for this role. She did a good job.

Maybe not as good as the hype but still one of the better film remakes released this year.
