Seen it last night on the "mega screen" at midnight good film. I loved the original King Kong 1930's version and this movie stayed pretty true to it. Whoever said this movie was going to be a disaster was very wrong!!!. It was 3 hours but it never dragged on it kept my attention the whole three hours and nine minutes. Special effects simplay amazing! There really wasn't a whole lot that I didnt like besides one bad one liner. Easily worth my 8 dollars. On a side note I didn't see the X3 trailler with it, but I already seen it online.

great great movie... I'm not gonna lie, I haven't cried in ever at a movie besides Free Willy and for some reason tonight I did, I balled at the end, hopefully it was an illergic reaction or something! The trailers they had for us were cool...

X3, Mission Impossible 3, Miami Vice, and then a Clive Owen/Denzel movie, and Posiden (a crazy wave hits a cruise ship on new years eve) looks like I'm gonna be spending a ton of money at the movies in May because most of them come out at that time next year.http://flotn.blogspot.com

I know it's a movie but there's one thing I don't get about the plot.

Character A " This island has all these prehistoric dinosaurs, isn't that incredible?"

Character B " Yeah I know but let's take that overgrown ape back to NY, it'll make us famous."Comment

No matter how "good" this movie is, it's still a remake of a remake, which is rather disappointing because there are almost no original movies released anymore.Listen to some of my covers:

Thats like saying a cover song can't be good because the band covering the song didn't write it.Originally posted by DeeForThreeNo matter how "good" this movie is, it's still a remake of a remake, which is rather disappointing because there are almost no original movies released anymore.

Remakes can be just as good as the original (see Texas Chainsaw Massacre), but when you have a the piles of crap remakes/movies based on shows (Dukes of Hazzard) then its going to make everybody hesistant about seeing a "remake."

 Re: King Kong

Exactly. I have no doubt that this might be a "good" movie, however it's nothing new. We all know the storyline, and although it may be presented slightly different with greater effects, it is just the same story told twice before on screen. In a way, this movie just seems like a demonstration of Hollywood's technology. Maybe the movie has good characters, plot development, and all the other necessities for a good movie, but it is missing out on the one thing that all those necessities revolve around: an original and interesting idea.Originally posted by BGarrett7Yes, remakes can be very good. I think DeeForThree's point had very little to do with the actual quality of the movies though. It is quite upsetting that the number of original storylines and ideas for movies has become almost non-existant.Listen to some of my covers:

 Re: King Kong

No it's not. TCM was scary LIKE the original, but it was not done in the same way. It was just a typical horror movie that happened to be fairly scary though. What makes the original TCM such a great movie was how it managed to be original: it scared you without showing you a single gory, bloddy detail. My point is that the new TCM may have been good, but it wasn't original. There was nothing new there.Originally posted by Fresh TendrilsThats like saying a cover song can't be good because the band covering the song didn't write it.

 Re: King Kong

King Kong made only $9.755 million in its first day, far below expectations. I have no interest in the movie simply because I think the 1933 original stands on its own. I hope it does well, because I really want Jackson to do The Hobbit.Comment
