      Re: Favorite Band(s)?

Hell, I listen to so many different bands and types of music that it's impossible for me to include everything I like and listen to now. But I do have an all-time and current favorite:

All-time favorite band: The Sex Pistols
      Current favorite band: Wilco

But if Wilco puts out one more superb album, which it will, it will pass the Pistols to become my favorite all-time band.

The genres that I listen to the most these days are classic jazz (Miles, Coltrane, Monk, Sonny Rollins, etc.), progressive house (Nick Warren, James Holden, etc.), ambient chill (Ulrich Schnauss, Boards of Canada, etc.) and alt-country rock (Wilco, Son Volt, etc.).

      Take care,

        Re: Favorite Band(s)?

I listen to just about every type of music but if I had to pick bands that I will continually listen to throughout the year or during stretches where they don't release new material it would have to be:

Metallica - I've been a fan since Ride the Lightning was released and they remained my favorite band until...
System of a Down - IMO the most musically talented band with the most original sound in all of hard rock. Daron is an amazing guitarist and with his emergence as a singer in the band SOAD has taken a step to another stratosphere. The melodies and harmonies they come up with are amazing and Serj has an amazing voice. It's hard to say if they'd be my favorite band if Load/Reload were never released though but I think they still might be.
the Afghan Whigs - They're gone now but Greg Dulli is one of the most soulful singers to ever front a band. Any band that can combine Indie/Alt rock with Motown is just cool as hell in my book. Dulli has moved on to the Twilight Singers which are very good but not quite as good as the Whigs were.
King's X - I could listen to Doug Pinnick sing all day. Combine that with Beatle-esque harmonies and a positive message that's so rare in non-Christian rock these days and King's X is truly a great band.
Sevendust - Lajon is another powerful frontman that I'd kill to be able to sing like. The riffs they come up with always make you want bob your head. Each release is consistently good from this band.
the Mars Volta - They're a new addition for me. I saw them open up for System of a Down a few months ago and they were amazing. One of the best live bands I've ever seen (not better than System though). Their studio work is excellent as well. It's so hard to describe their sound other than mesmerizing. They're a prog rock band at heart that mixes in a latin flair. Great musicians.
Dave Matthews - Whether it's with the band or solo material Dave Matthews writes damn good songs.
Harry Connick Jr. - Great voice, excellent musician.

Next really let me down. They should have worked with Butch again.

These are in no order and I'm sure I'm forgetting some.
Some good ones there..I'm into metalcore right now, though, with bands like Unearth, Trivium, and All that Remains..Lamb of God really does it for me as well..

I can't forget old stuff from Black Sabbath, either..

I'm also a fan of stuff from Killswith Engage, Soilwork, and even Hatebreed..

Nice choice. I just recently got into them (within the last couple of years), the problem I have is their Greatest Hits is just too good. I went back and bought "Sufer Rosa" after I really started liking the GH, and there are only like 3 or 4 songs on there that weren't on the GH CD. I want to get Doolittle, but it would be only for a few songs as well.

They are also, reportedly, working on a new album for release sometime next year.

                  Coheed and Cambria
                  Keith Urban
                  Eminem

Those are the three I've been listening to most lately...I don't really have a favorite band, so I go with the three I haven't stopped listening to in a bit.

You are a lucky, lucky person. Hopefully, if the new album rumors are true, they will go out on a bigger tour to support it. I would love to catch them live.
