    Stunning news......

What they lose in movie ticket sales, they probably make up in DVD sales. It's only a matter of time before movies get released in the theaters and on DVD at the same time, with the DVD having no special features and only being able to be viewed once.

Thank piracy too. Bootlegers are very common.

No. If they really wanted to go, they'd put it on a credit card.

Yup, movies are AWFUL nowadays. Plus I can just wait three-six months and pay an extra $2-$3 for it on DVD and own it forever.

I'm not gonna play $10 to see some atrocious POS remake, and that's just about the only thing that hits the big screen these days.

I used to go to movie theaters a LOT. Now I wait for things to come out on DVD unless it's a movie I really need to see in the theaters like King Kong, for instance. But the #1 reason, bar none, that I don't go to the movies anymore is rude people. People are just incredibly disrespectful and rude to those around them and I'm not paying $8.50 to listen to some jackass sit next to me and talk through the movie.

I'm fine with the price and fine with the selection of movies, but I just won't tolerate the people anymore. Viva la home theater.

That is why if I go to the movies it's either a early bird movie 11am-1pm, or a mattnae *sp*. Don't have annoying lil teenagers on their cell phones, or laughing it up like a bunch of idiots over something stupid. Plus it's cheaper. 4.50 for early bird, and 5.50 before 5pm.

I hate going to the movies and those idiots ruining it for me.

I'm with those who don't go to the movies anymore. Why do I want to pay $10 to watch it in a theater where I have to deal with people talking, answering cell phones and acting like *******s when I can get the DVD's for an average of about $7 apiece from Columbia House.

I used to enjoy the theater experience but its just not worth it for regular movies anymore. In rare cases like Star Wars, LOTR, etc, I'll still try to see it in the theater, but thats about it.

Its not a surprise with the raise in ticket prices, long commercials and previews before the movie. But most of all the movies have not been that good. A lot of remakes, and bad movies in general.

I don't buy the reason that people aren't going to the movies anymore because it's too expensive to buy a movie ticket.

In virtually every Province/State you can still buy a ticket for less than $10

                          That's cheaper than most books/CD's/DVD's/Dinner at a decent restaurant/Broadway Show/Sporting Event/Concert

A valid reason is other customers being annoying. When I saw The 40 Year Old Virgin (night show) the theater was full of teenagers. 2 idiots sitting a few rows behind me decided to do a running commentary of the film. And a couple of jackasses decided to chat on their cell phone and take calls.

And now you're probably thinking, why didn't you get an usher or confront those individuals? Their was an incident here where someone told the person sitting behind him to stop kicking his seat, and guess what happened? He got shanked for it.

An incident like that makes you think twice.

From my experience, virtually all of the problems are caused by teenagers. I saw a few movies on weekday afternoons (while the kiddies are in school) and there wasn't any problems because the other patrons were adults.

I got tired of yelling at ppl to be quiet, & nearly got into a altercation once over a guy talking on his cell phone during the majority of the movie.. It's not worth it.. The theatres lost their balls to throw out ppl who don't follow the rules.. Remember when ushers would escort you out if you mis behaved? Not anymore.. I love the mother who walks in 15 minutes late with a 2 month old baby that balls all the time, while mommy says, shhhhhh.. Walks out..Comes back in..Baby crys.. She walks out again.. & you pay 10.00 for it!!
