I think it had something to do with Vaughn getting his girl, and Wilson not getting his. Plus, with both girls being in the same family and all, maybe not wanting to rub it in his face.

Anyways, I LOVED both movies. Both were hilarious, and all my friends felt the same way. We watched both of them in the same night with a group of about 10 people, and the place was a laughingtock.

And you guys that didn't enjoy 40YOV are "so far up your.......a**es"

Same exact role in the movie. Chris Walken was WAY underused. And it almost felt like a Chick Flick after the first 30 minutes. Plus, I didn't understand why Vaughn's character hid his dating the sister from Wilson's character? The acted like he was dating the sister that Wilson wanted. It was weird. Weird.
he hid it because he was a total player who finally wanted to settle down, and didn't know how to admit it...

I found both to be really funny...Wedding Crashers was better the 2nd time, the first time I thought it really dragged at the end, but the 2nd time I saw a lot more amusing references and stuff, little jokes I suppose. Virgin was funny too, not sure which I prefer more. Neither are like Old School though, that had me completely dying sometimes, these are more subtle in humor.

        Re: 40 Year Old Virgin

Both of those are possible explanations that I thought of... but neither are at the least entertaining. I can see Vaughn's character wanting to hide it to certain extent, but Wilson's reaction was over the top.

I know.. I know... overthinking a comedy. But, they tried to make more of a romantic comedy.

Also, I was a little dissappointed with the ending of Wedding Crashers. It seemed kind of... well.... OK... it's over. Folk Singing group from Salt Lake City... oh gee... haha.... It would have been better with either a montage (ala the first 20 minutes) of all of them crashing weddings... or maybe someone crashing their wedding.

Oh well... again.... the movie was funny. I laughed. Just maybe a bit over-hyped for me. I hate over-hyped things as mentioned in my BLOG today (shameless plug for my BLOG - see link below).

I enjoyed both movies...but like you said about Wedding Crashers being over-hyped..I feel the same about 40 year old virgin, but thats my fault for letting the hype take over. Funny movie, but not the classic like everyone said.

I also I agree that Wedding Crashers ended up being somewhat of a chick flick..but it was a good movie and I was entertained.

Do not believe the hype, ever.

Thats why I tend to down play just about every movie that comes out.

              Re: 40 Year Old Virgin

The only thing I agree with about Wedding Crashers is the end, and even the last half hour. From the time they leave Walken's house to the end is a bit ehhhhhhhhh.

But still, I haven't laughed that hard at a movie in a long time. Sure it was a rehash of older comidies, but what isn't nowadays? Even 40 Year Old Virgin, hell it's basically the first American Pie cept w. a 40 year old instead of a 17 year old, and AP was EASILY a funnier flick. And the support cast in 40YOV was pretty terrible. The black guy and the guy who got dumped by the Pakistani were awful, and the big goofy tatoo'd guy was okay from time to time.

Back to WC, I usually don't like Owen Wilson at all and I always thought VV was overrated, but I thought they were priceless together in this one.

And as usual, Will Ferrel was one giant bomb. I don't see how people find that man funny.

I think thats what killed the movie for me. Those guys were ALL awful. Terrible acting+lines. There were hundreds of attempts with jokes involving those guys, and I didn't laugh once.

I loved the supporting players in 40 Year Old Virgin. The opening 10 minutes when Cal tells the story about the girl and the horse. That 45 seconds was funnier than 95% of Wedding Crashers.

Cal: Oh, man, I had a weekend.
                  Andy Stitzer: Yeah?
Cal: We went to Tijuana, Mexico, you know? And we thought it would be fun, you know, to go to a show. Everybody says you gotta check out one of these shows. And... it's a woman ****in' a horse. We get there and we think it's gonna be awesome and... it is not as cool as it sounds like it's gonna be. It's kinda gross.
                  Andy Stitzer: Yeah.
Cal: You think "A woman ****in' a horse" and you get there and... it's a woman ****ing a horse.
                  Andy Stitzer: Yeah.
Cal: It was really giving it to her. And you know what? To be honest I just felt bad for her, we all just felt bad for her.
                  Andy Stitzer: Yeah.
Cal: I kinda felt bad for the horse!
                  Andy Stitzer: Wow, that's something.

                  That killed me.

I think part of what bugged me about Wedding Crashers is that I expected more from Vaughn and Wilson. I thought they were both better in "Starsky & Hutch" (a highly underrated flix) then in this one.

i'd definately place wedding crashers at the bottom of that groups recent comedies. Zoolander was funnier.

gotta dis agree with zoolander being funnier. i liked zoolander alot, but wedding crashers wasnt as "stupid" as zoolander was. they are both special in their own way.

I saw both movies in the theaters and own both DVD's. I enjoyed both flicks. The 40 Year Old Virigin is one of the funniest movies I've ever seen. I liked Wedding Crashers except for the last 30 minutes. It got too sappy. But Will Ferell's part was a lot funnier the 2nd time I saw it.

Wedding Crashers is basically a half guy flick, half chick flick, and half hour too long.

If you watch the Wilson/Vaughn commentary, they mentioned they thought about doing a different ending but decided against it at the end.
