    Battlestar Galactica

I had heard nothing but good things about the remake of the classic series.

Well..my boss handed me the DVDs from Season 1 and told me to check it out.

This show is now my second favorite on TV behind Lost and just ahead of Nip/Tuck.

It's got a dark, ominous tone to it and the acting and writing are on par with the old Star Trek: The Next Generation series..which I was addicted to.

Does anyone else watch this show? If not...I highly recommend checking it out on Sci Fi or picking up the First season on DVD.

    Re: Battlestar Galactica

I got the season 1 & 2 DVDs for Xmas and my wife and I just started watching them. We're not very far into the show, but so far we both really like it. She's not the biggest fan of hardcore sci-fi, so her liking the show is a real testament to its acting and story. The effects and soundtrack are good too, and as you said, everything has a very dark, ominous tone to it. We're really digging the show so far.

Apparently the show's producer has gone on record saying he wanted the show's tone and story to evoke similar feelings to those we felt on 9/11. I can definitely see the parallels so far....

Skerik the soundtrack really adds a lot to the show IMO. I love the drumbeat whenever there is a battle and the..I guess you'd call it Indian/Middle Eastern type of score really adds to the "sadness" that is being portrayed as the Colonials are fighting for survival.

I'm almost on Disc 3 of Season1..I've watched the 4 hour movie and the first 3 1/2 episodes of Season 1. I love it.

          *WARNING FANBOI ALERT*

I have a built in bias because I'm such a huge Scifi fanatic, but I think its the best show on T.V., bar none. Religion, Politics, Philosophy, Psychology, Sociology etc, No character is a paragon of virtue or shining white knight. They all stuggle mightily not only to do the right thing, but more importantly to even know what the right thing is. Almost every decision is choice between the lesser of two evils. They face unrelenting ethical and moral dilemmas every week.

Paradoxically, its Scifi for people who love scifi, and for people who hate scifi too.

I second your opinion. I was very turned off after the pilot mini-series, but I have grown to love the show. It ranks up there with The Shield as one of my favorite shows on TV.

Wow.....really? That's sounds almost exactly like how Firefly was when it was on TV. The characters, and the cast that played them, were a big reason I got into that show so much. That plus I am a huge Joss Whedon fanboi I may have to check it out the next chance I get, and go pick up the dvd set if it is as good as it sounds.

I'm officially a Battlestar fanatic now.

I just watched 8 consecutive episodes from Season 1. Incredible show. Every episode something new is revealed ala 24 or Lost. Very dark, gritty, "real" Sci Fi. Awesome awesome show.

And I'm in the love with the Amazon Blonde Cylon. Daaaayyyuuumm!

This is one reason why I love the show too. This is also why I'm glad that this whole Admiral Cain/Pegasus stuff is winding down. Every episode has been devoted to showing us how evil Cain is. I think the show took a downward turn ever since the rape scene. It just seemed forced, not very believable, and over-the-top.

Also, I own seasons 1-5 of OZ so it's not like I can't handle seeing a rape. It looks like the show is getting back on track though.

I'm up to finishing part one of where Starbuck has taken the Cylon Raider to find the Arrow on Caprica and Helo is coming to terms with the fact that the Sharon Cylon is in love with him. I borrowed Discs 3 and 4...8 episodes..from my boss thinking that would be plenty for me to watch over the weekend.... ...I ended up watching all 8 episodes last night and I'm dying to see Part 2 right now. Gonna have to run by his house and grab discs 5 and 6.
