But that's just the thing, she doesn't know what the hell she is talking about. I can't even begin to count the number of times she has mispronounced someones named, called someone by an entirely different name, compeltely blown a highlight... You name a screw up, and she's done it at least ten times. She is an absolutely horrible sportscaster. Even Stu Scott in all his incoherent ramblings and the wannabe-Stus do a better job of getting the point across than she does. It's sickening that she has managed to stay a prominent part of SportsCenter for as long as she has.

Exactly. Besides the faux pas' that BGarrett mentioned, this woman is not a good writer at all. Her scripts are really, really weak.

I'll never forget how she ended the report about NASCAR champion Alan Kulwicki's death in a plane crash on "SportsCenter" in April 1993:

"And they called him Mighty Mouse ... "

Uh, yes, Kulwicki was nicknamed "Mighty Mouse." But what relevance does that have to a report on his death? And is that any way to end a report on a champion driver's death in a plane crash?

Linda Cohn is a hack. But considering the plummeting quality of "SportsCenter" these days, maybe she is a damn good fit for the show.

      Take care,

I have only seen snippets of her "work" so I can't comment. I'll just say that there are some good female reporters and anchors it's just that they're mired in the local level and um in Canada

I know she'll be in Detroit for the Super Bowl if that helps. I heard it yesterday.

Now, let's not get ridiculous here!
            Stuart Scott?

PK - we've never met face-to-face, but based on the ocassional XBL session alone, I'm entirely comfortable saying that you're a much better ESPN anchor than Stuart Scott.

When he was a fresh face, Stu seemed edgy; he had a new angle.
But now, it's like Harry Caray at the end - you knew he was going to say these particular things ("look at the size of that sombrero"/"don't hate the playa, hate the game"), and do some goofy shtick that only he thinks is funny (read players' names backwards/insert any Stu phrase here).

The difference is that it took Caray 40 years to devolve into a caricature - it's taken Scott roughly five.

As much as I tried to stay out of this debate, I can no longer keep my mouth shut.

I am utterly amazed when people like you bash someone's on-air work as though it were some easy thing to perfect. I'd LOVE to sit you at an anchor desk, give you a few pages of copy and a teleprompter and watch as you stumble your way through a few highlights. No offense, but in all liklelihood, it would be a train wreck.

Linda Cohn is 100 times the broadcaster that Lisa Guerrero, Jillian Barberie, and Jill Arrington are, COMBINED!!

Sorry man but you're comparing apples to oranges here. Guerrero and Arrington are/were sideline reporters. How strenous is that?

Barberie is just eye candy (tho I don't see the appeal)

If you're going to make comparisons then compare Cohn to other, you know ANCHORS.

Is that supposed to be some sort of compliment to ol' Mrs. Horseface? You could put a drunken mule on television and get a better performance out of it than the three you mentioned.

Sorry, but I'm comparing her to other broadcasters, in general. I've seen and heard Linda Cohn do other things in the field. She's an outstanding radio host, the times she's filled in for Dan Patrick. She did a really good job on the "This is SportsCenter" special, as one of the hosts for that.

In my opinion, what she does is more difficult than what the sideline reporters do. WAY more difficult. For the most part, those sideline reporters are fed information. Some even have their stuff written for them by producers.

I've seen with my own eyes, an unnamed "eye-candy" sideline reporter running through a script with a producer, as the producer was explaining to her how to say certain players' names and what to emphasize in that individual segment. Those "eye-candy" sideline reporters don't do jack!

There are, of course, exceptions. Bonnie Bernstein, for one, does all her own work. Holly Rowe does as well. Michele Tafoya is another one who really does her homework.

But most of'em? They simply put on the makeup, show up, read the script while looking pretty, then they go out drinking afterwards.

I see where you're coming from (btw it's always great to have someone with inside knowledge commenting on things that the general public only speculates on) but I still think a fairer comparison should be made with other anchors.
