Re: How is the IPOD Video?

I know some people who have them. They love it. They all say the video drains the battery like crazy, but I never really understood why battery life was such a big deal unless you plan on using the thing for 8 hours everyday with no access to an electrical outlet all day long. I know some people have that situation occassionally, but not every single day.

Anyway, the video looks nice, it is small, but still looks good as more of a bonus feature than anything. iPods are great in general if you want to pay for one, if you've got the money to drop and the video screen is a big selling point, then go ahead and get the iPod. You may want to do a check on some MP3 player forums to see if there are any bugs, I know the Nano has had some problems, but I haven't heard anything about the video yet.

For anyone who has or is planning on buying a Nano or Video, I suggust you get one of these:

I have one on my Ipod video that I just bought, and it provides excellent protection against scratches, while keeping the same look of the Ipod.

So far, I like my Ipod. Sound quality is improved over the Ipod mini(only other Ipod I've tried)and you can put thousands of songs on there. If you have a very large Cd collection, a large capacity MP3 player is a must have. There's nothing like having your entire music collection in the palm of your hand.

Whatever Mp3 player you decide to get, I suggest you ditch the stock earbuds, and upgrade your headphones. I just picked up a pair of Shure E4G's and the sounds is outstanding, stock earphones don't come close. There a bit on the expensive side, but they're worth it if you care what your music sounds like. You can go to http://www.shurestore.com/index.html to view their selection, and they even offer a 30 money back guarantee if you're not happy with their headphones.

Thanks. I was going to go with one from Creative, but then after reading on other forums that some of the creative players have had problems I have been iffy about them. I also hear that their sound chips are much better though than the IPODs.

For me the Video playback is an added feature. I was looking at the 4G Nano, but at $250 not worth it when I could get a 30G Video for $50 more. I have a PSP with 1G memory that I'm currently selling, and the thing wasn't a good substitute for an MP3 player.

Sony made one flaw with that system, they should have sold the system with a 10-20G HDD instead of the memory sticks. Then I could see Sony moving into the movie and audio market much smoother. Even if the system cost $300 instead of $250 since there is a 20G HDD in there, that would be great.

Back to the IPOD, has anyone heard anything about the 6th Gen of IPOD?

The video quality is excellent. My brother owns one and he has been pushing me to get one, but I wanted a little more feedback. Even if you don't use the video, the 7,500 song capacity and great Ipod interface makes the $300 investment well worth it.

It is 2.5 inch, I know people who have watched full movies and they have no complaints. The video quality is probably better than that of a cheap portable TV. You would probably want to see if you can borrow someone's for a few hours before dropping that kind of cash though.

My brother did a DVD to IPOD transfer of the original Office (you need additional software when doing this) and the quality is that of a DVD.

I have to say that I am really happy with mine, My girlfriend bought it for me for christmas so I didn't have to drop the 300 for it, but either way I'm very pleased, it does it job, I haven't experienced any problems so I could care less what negative comments others have to say about it.

My wife got me a black video Ipod for my birthday yesterday. Funny because I've been sort of anti-ipod for a long time. I haven't really gotten to use it yet, so what can I do with this thing besides listen to music and look at pictures and video?

I'm going to upgrade to a Vid Ipod when TIVO announces that you can transfer recorded shows to the IPod. That will be sweet!

The only thing I have against the extra cost of the Video is the fact that I really would have no desire whatsoever to sit and watch a movie on a 2 inch screen. Music, IPODs kick ***. Video?... Not for me. I could see perhaps a business traveler loading up a movie before a long flight each week, but I don't think most people really have any use for it. At least I don't.
