My theory is he will be back. CC's ratings have dropped without Chappelle and he seems willing to come back so I think it will work out.

Oh I believe the tenor of what he said it's just that some things seemed a little off. I really cant see why someone would do what he did. Then again everyone has different thought processes.
Just colour me a little skeptical on the story but the message of what he said rings true.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

This show basically ruined his relationship with his friend from his childhood. Money makes people do evil things, and apparently thats what some of the writers were doing.Last edited by shugknight; 02-03-2006, 06:42 PM.Comment

Well I wasn't really thinking about the money aspect in that way. If he knew money would do this to him i'm sure he'd have taken far less then what he got. At the end of the show he was baiscally saying he just wants to get on with his life and doesn't care about the money.

Re: Dave Chappelle on Oprah NOW!
Originally posted by NivekBingo, Chappelle has that 'underground' state of mind to him. Sure, he can say he loves fame and all the other stuff, but I think the fact that all of his homies turned face on him really set him off. I wouldn't take 50 million if it messed up my personal life and was I unhappy. I think it's very noble of him to atleast admit that things got ****ed up, but he still would consider coming back. Most entertainers would just say '**** it, I'm (insert celeb name), I don't need you.'
If you listen/watch some of his old stuff, (late 90s), he talked about it a few times. He often talked about how he doesn't want to be famous, he just enjoys comedy and making people laugh.Comment

If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)Comment

I can see where he's coming from, just like you watch a comedy show or attend a comedy show and you see those different from you laughing at the n-joke a lil bit too hard. I don't know, I know at first I wasn't getting what he was trying to explain but it clicked."Never trust a big butt and a smile."-Ricky Bell

Re: Dave Chappelle on Oprah NOW!
After watching that interview I have more respect for him as a person than a comedian. And that's a lot of respect because he's one of the funniest comedians alive.
Him talking about how he felt bad on some of his sketches becasue they were 'socially irresponsible'. Some people don't understand how Chappelle can be 'socially irresponsible' for his sketches because his comedy does seem out of bounds BUT it's good to know that he does have some sort of dignity with himself. And when he mentioned about the sketch he did for the 3rd season and he felt bad but the white guy was laughing that showed me he does have some morals.
I hope CC gives him what he want so we can see him and his show again.I have more respect for a man who let's me know where he stands, even if he's wrong. Than the one who comes up like an angel and is nothing but a devil. - Malcolm XComment

"$50 million? Make it 25 and we'll have a deal."
No, nobody would. And you'd be dumb enough to turn it down. But I think the worst part of his scenario was the fact that his friend basically sold him out, probably for more cash. And thats what Chappelle was talking about throughout the show. How all this fame and money got to not only his head, but everyone around him. As he admitted, he loved the fame, but I'm not sure he was quite ready to become as big as a celebrity as he did. And I think thats what got to his head. When he started reading the papers about what he did the night before, and what the paparazzi saw and wrote, he kinda got scared.
I'm glad though that he did admit he was paranoid. Who in their right mind wouldnt be after you basically inherited 50 mil? I sure hope that his "friends" were able to watch this interview and reflect on what they truly lost the most.. Their friendship. Money comes and goes, but friends will always be there for you.Comment
