Re: Dave Chappelle on Oprah NOW!

I feel for dave. Me and my friends have followed him since he was basiclly a nibody. (before CC and before mosth tinngs he did on TV.) I remember when Killing them softly first aired we all knew he was special. I remember the clayton Bigsby episode and knowing how great his show could be. Then the mad real world had us all sold. I also gould see the begining of the end. when I walked into work and I said I'm rick James... top my slef and like 50 or 60 proplr follwed that with bitc&! I knew that that was the begening of the end. I mean How many people actualy watched the 1st season when it origionaly aired. I beleive him when he did a gig at the filmore in S.F. about people running u tp himn while he was with his kids screaming "I'm rick james b&*%$: So I wasn't mad when he took time off, jsutlike I am excited that the 3rd season might be back on again. I personay love Dave Chapelle, and will continue to back him no matter where his career goes.

I hope that I spelled most of that right guys.

Good to know they want to get it worked out. That's one of the only shows I bother watching.

The second sketch they ever did was socially irresponsible. Might've been the 3rd,I'm sure you all know what I'm talking about but isn't it really socities fault for letting that stuff occur and exisist for it to be made fun of?

Thats my story to a tee, from my friends and I memorizing "killin me softly" and knowing he's gonna be special, to the first episode, to being sold w/ the mad real world, to seeing the beginning of the end, hearing him say the rick james thing (except we saw him in lansing, mi). Everything you wrote rings true.

You should've read my post a little more carefully. I basically said "if he knew then what he knows now". Of course no one would turn down that deal. I'm saying that hindsight being 20/20 he would've taken less money.

What gas station is that? If you can support 5 people working at a gas station I want to know.

You can almost pick from just about any here in the San Fernando Valley, or even in L.A.

I even know a few guys that are here straight from Mexico at the stations I frequent.

The one dude at the nearest station near me wear I stop in before hitting the 5 FWY to go to work tells me (in spanish, because he speaks near no english) it's hard for him because his wife stays home with his three kids, and he does it all off of just what he earns at the station.

Trust me, there are many out there strugling to make it.

They basically locked him in a room and said he was crazy...... but they wanted him to keep on working. Also, he was telling a racial joke and some Caucasian laughed at it like it wasn't a joke if you know what I mean........

I would of left too IMO.

Exactly, they are struggling. Why would anyone want to struggle to make money when they can make more than enough doing something else? And most people who would ever use a gas station as their main source of income have second jobs.

You are a young black man that lives in Ohio right?

Well sorry to insult you but you really dont know sh*t about immigrants in Cali do you?

Read into my post more and stop showing your age. They are Mexicans straight from there!! Stop being so ignorant, some of them have no choices and work wherever they get a shot.

Back on topic, I woulda walked out as well.

I actually do know about mexicans in California since I have lived there. You are telling me that those guys only have one job and that is working at a gas station? You are completely wrong. As I'm sure you're well aware of, with your vast knowledge of immigrant employment, there are places that hire people to do different jobs for a couple of hours. And when I was talking about people choosing to struggle, I meant Dave Chappelle. If he can make money doing stand up or whatever why would he choose to work at a gas station? I should've worded that better but you should have been able to guess who I was talking about since this is about chappelle.
