Not a dress code but every coast of this nation has some type of gear that represents them. For example, in New York, the blue jeans and timberland phase is highly popular down there. As well as the throwback jerseys. Out west, cats still wear plaid botton ups and Chuck Taylors and khaki pants. These trends catch on nationwide but they all originated in some city. Thats all I'm saying. In the midwest, we take styles from the south and the east coast.

What was up with Sly anyway? Did he even sing a note or was he just mumbling? And was it me or did he look like he was missing a finger or two??Originally posted by abates21I'm skimming through this right now on my DVR, here are my random thoughts.
-Jennifer Love Hewitt looks SMOKIN
-Holy tata's on Mariah.
-gotta love Joss Stone, awesome voice
-Nice figure on Ciara, that was a pretty cool Sly compilation.
-JayZ killed it, of course
-I dunno if I'm the only one to notice this, but it seems like there have been quite a few audio problems this year. Now I dont normally watch, but there's no way this is the norm. From not being able to hear Sly at all and playing Mariah's music when U2 wins Song of the year. Anybody else notice this?
-Jamie Foxx, dude can sing. I thought him and Kanye were pretty good. Kanye's officially lost his sanity, dude is crazy. Nice suit. Broke Phi Broke!Comment

Re: Grammys
Yeah, I wasn't feeling that performance at all. I dont' know what was up with him. You couldn't hear him signing or playing the keys and when he walked off the stage it was like he never wanted to be there in the first place.Originally posted by SquintWhat was up with Sly anyway? Yea, he just walked off and disappeared while the performance was still going on. I dont know if it was planned or not. As for Sly, I heard he was sick. I dont know what he has however.http://neverfollow.biz (Independent Music Group)Comment

Re: Grammys
i by no means am a fan of kanye west as an artist or a person (although as a producer, that's a different story), but to exile a person because he dresses differently from the norm is sort of silly. no, i don't think his outfit was "cool" or "fresh" in any way shape or form.Comment

Put it like this, if I walked outside with the outfit he had on, I'd get laughed off the street. Think the pimp with the fish bowl shoes in I'm Gonna Get You Sucka.
In another city, like Hollywood, he may fit right in. All I'm saying is I hope he never attempts to represent Chicago wearing crap like that. He's so far out of touch with this city, I dont wanna hear this cities name out his mouth again.http://neverfollow.biz (Independent Music Group)Comment

Re: Grammys
award shows are always places where for some reason, celebrities think it's OK to wear just outrageous things.. kanyes everyday style (from what i've seen on tv/magazines) is quite nice imo. in all likelyhood you won't really see him wearing outlandish outfits like he had on last night in everyday life. he was one of the first, forgive me for sounding simple, but first hip-hop/rap icons i saw who wore fitted polo shirts and jeans, nice designer jeans, that actually fit. so i have to give kanye that.Comment

Like I said earlier, the polo shirts trend started to catch on. (Even though it was a 80s-90s trend) and there was nothing wrong with it at all. His entire style in the beggining was'nt bad. (Not something I'd wear however) This past year though, he seems to stray futher and futher away from reality. Those big glasses were the beggining. His transformation reminds me alot of Andre 3000 when he first started turning on ATliens with the turbin. In a few years, he'll start wearing MC Hammer puffy pants and a leather MJ thriller jacket. Wait!! I already seen him wear something similar to a thriller jacket. LOL.
As for Common, he had rough times to with the gear when he was with Erika Badu but he bounced back and went back to normal. Semi-normal shall I say. I'm all for artist being creative in every facet of their life but there is a thin line between looking daper and looking like a fool. Kanye looked like a fool. On Fox News, they said he had on Kool Moe Dee glasses and his outfit was like Pacino in Scareface. The gloves were just something new. Where's Star Jones when you need her.http://neverfollow.biz (Independent Music Group)Comment

I didnt like the outfit but comparing him to Andre is a reach. He wore that **** on Grammy night. Thats it. He's been on a million shows and has never worn anything like that. Andre wears that crazy stuff EVERYDAY! I've seen dude on the street in ATL wearing some crazy stuff. Big difference between what Kanye did and what Andre is doing.Comment

How is that a sell out?
Kanye was never a street artist. He always had a different look so how is dressing crazy a sell out move? I thought he looked stupid but come on. Statements like that just limits Hip Hop. I think Andre from Outkast is one of the most talented rappers alive and he dresses like an alien. Does that make him a sellout?Comment

Re: Grammys
Well actually I didnt mean he sold out cuz of his style of dress. He sold out cuz once he became "Famous" or "Hollywood" he did nothing for Chicago artists. If he does, he hits them hard for a beat....like $10k+
Only ones who could afford a beat like that is Twista and Common.
Yeah he did a beat for Do or Die but that was booty.Last edited by Gilateen; 02-09-2006, 04:04 PM.Comment

Re: Grammys
Ok, I understand. Honestly though 10 grand is kind of cheap for a Kanye West beat. He is one of the most popular producers out. Also didnt he work with Do or Die and Twista recently?Originally posted by GilateenWell actually I didnt mean he sold out cuz of his style of dress.
