        Re: Slingbox

I've had the slingbox since June 2005 and can attest to how flawless this device is. I'm using it with Comcast HDTV DVR and it has worked without any issues. This morning they released the Sling Mobile that works with Windows Mobile Phones.

I downloaded the Mobile update directly to my Pocket PC Phone ( XV6700 ) and was watching my TV on my way to work. This device is f***ing incredible.

Compusa has it on sale for $199 again, it is the cheapest that you can find it new in a store.

            Re: Slingbox

Revisiting this thread instead of creating a new one. The question is if I grab the signal from home on my laptop at another location, how large of a viewing screen on my laptop can I get without forfeiting TV clarity? I know that my home specs need to be good, especially upload speed. I mean if I have all that, how large of an image can I get?

640x240 is the best default size, is pretty good there, but it will require a good upload speed. Then you can increase the size of the player, but you will get some distortion from there. I usually have it set at 320x240 and make it full screen and it is fine. Unless you are watching sports, the distortion is not noticeable.

Trying to grab the signal from my house where my UL speed is typically in the 700's, but we are looking to transfer over NFL games to a laptop and then port out to a projector. Just order the AV version last night for around $165 shipped. Hopefully, this will do the job. I'll give a review later.
