    New McDonald's ads

C'mon McDonald's. Has anyone seen these? BK makes the genius decision to bring the old-school King out of retirement and now McDonald's has to make a series of commercials featuring their mascot posterboy, Ronnie Mac? Puhleeze. What blatant and offensive plagarism. Get your own idea, McDonald's!

If I were involved in marketing for McDonald's, I'd pitch this idea which I've mentioned on the forums before. The King has the ball and is streaking down the field, leaving juked defenders in his wake. The NFL music is playing and you're thinking this is just another commercial showcasing the awesome force that is the King. Then, out of nowhere, Grimace busts into the picture at top speed and drags the King down with a borderline illegal horsecollar tackle. As the King writhes on the ground holding his now-twisted leg with Grimace standing over him pointing and taunting, the Hamburgler picks up the bouncing football and takes it to the house for the TD. Then you quick cut to a close-up picture of piping hot McDonald's french fries to remind everyone how damn awesome they are, and the commercial ends. Hells yeah.

But anyway, I digress. Those new McDonald's commercials are completely lame.

Dash: [muttering] Which is another way of saying no one is.

Yeah, I remember it was a joint effort but I couldn't remember with whom. Ok, credit shall be given! And in return, all you have to do is provide me with a cerain someone's gamertag....

Btw, licensing the King's image may be a problem for McDonald's so we may have to use some kind of pseudo-King look-a-like. But people will understand the message we're trying to send.

        LOL...

I think they could get their point across. But, you know the new Diet Pepsi commercial with Jackie Chan uses a Diet Coke can. I don't know what they did to get it or use it, but I can't imagine it's that difficult.

True. I thought that commercial was lame too, btw. It seems like lately there's a real lack of good commercials out there. Even the Super Bowl was very lean on good commercials this year. What gives? I think more companies need to take it back to the old school like BK did, instead of continually coming up with lame, stupid ideas just for the sake of originality.

Oh, I agree, it was dumb. I'm just saying.

Commercials have been awful for a few years now.

              Re: New McDonald's ads

Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery...or so the saying goes. In my mind there is no innovation in advertising, movies, TV. If a show gets hot, a multitude of copycats spring out of Hollywood like gremlins when Gizmo gets wet.

Just look at that stupid Gilette Fusion ad, "innovative technology built on a UNIQUE IDEA"! What unique idea? Five blades instead of four? That Onion article was great! Schick will come with six within the year, mark my words. What's worse is that too many on OS buy the razor immediately based on hype and start singing the praises! Simply stunning.

*Another thing that bothers me, and since a guy mentioned the Diet Coke can in the Diet Pepsi add, I remembered my question. How can Anheiser-Busch advertise using Miller Brewing Company products and vice versa, or Pepsi w/ Coke products, withouth some sort of collusion between the big corporations? Look how careful TV shows have to be with using products (covering up the "C" in "Charmin" on the Colbert Report for example). They don't want to pay the marketing rights or give free publicity. Couldn't AB sue Miller for always insulting Bud Light? It's something that has always bothered me, as I can't figure out how it's done without some sort of underhanded illegal money swapping.*

Tivo is capable of recording programs and pausing the recording through commercials? Or you just fast forward through them?

Before showing the fries it should cut to the sideline and show Ronald McDonals with a coaches headset on celebrating the play.

Well, nothing can be worse than the old McDonald's commercials, where they tried to reach every demographic on earth in thirty seconds.

Yes. I am part of that rare 3%. Cable is $40+/month. And in Evansville the OTA HDTV signals are junk. I just catch up on the news via the internet and watch 24 at my girlfriend's. Don't need much more than that.

How about the one's where they claimed that people in new york played basketball on roller blades? That was the worst series of commercials ever.
