Ok, I will have to check it out. Doesn't this movie really say it all though about how most of us are vapid, empty vessels that are slaves to fashion, modern society, trends and the like? Honestly it's pretty depressing and somewhat disarming in how accurate it is.

Anyone feel me?

Man Idiocracy was a dissapointment. I thought it was going to have some real social commentary but it was just over the top and not that funny.

If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)

the movie itself was a far cry from "good" but the concept is still pretty spot on. probably could've been as effective in a 20 minute short.

Re: American Psycho (2000) WARNING SPOILER

I made this movie a blind buy for me (only $10 on Blu-ray at Fry's), and right as the credits rolled I sat there for a second like, "Umm, okay..." but literally 30 seconds later I recollected the movie and realized how much I loved it.

The only things I would have preferred they removed or shortened were the sex scenes. I really don't ever find them necessary in movies. If I want to watch sex, I'll buy a porno.

But what I got out of it was that Bateman really killed everyone, but I feel like there was a "dream" state with the ATM and the cops and such. I feel like that whole bit was actually a dream.

As for the Blu-ray, it was probably the worst looking BD I own, even worse than The Italian Job, Die Hard, and The Usual Suspects. Remember how I always said that The Dark Knight looks stellar but falls short of reference due to edge-enhancement? This one looks pretty much like a DVD, but with edge-enhancement. This is the difference.

              RE: the sex scenes

I don't think they are gratuitous, but that they add to and enhance the whole 80s atmosphere with an individuals egotism and how that egotism lets a person neglect others around him. Those scenes aren't as much about Bateman having sex, because really he's staring at the mirror and flexing muscles, but about how Bateman is so full of himself that he neglects to share in things that make him feel and humane. Then he has to resort to butchering people to actually feel something stir within himself.

Re: American Psycho (2000) WARNING SPOILER

Definitely, and I understand that... but I think the biggest problem is there are a lot of movies that I own that my parents like to watch as well (like they don't really watch movies unless I show them some, so they can expand their... whatever). Movies with any such scenes, no matter the meaning behind it, becomes a no-show for them or some other people.

It just feels awkward for me watching them sometimes as well, being that it's not why I watch the movie.

The author did? I've never heard or seen anything where he said they were. Maybre the director did, but the author of the book has always left it up to your interpretation.

As much I love the movie, there are two scenes from the book I would have loved to have seen in the film:

                          1) Bateman in the elevator with Tom Cruise
                          2) The U2 concert

No, he read the book. The whole "killings were in his head" theory is not something that was intended in the movie.
