No, I agree, I watch it more as a comedy than anything else.

"Phil Collins' solo career seems to be more commercial and therefore more satisfying, in a narrower way. Especially songs like In the Air Tonight and Against All Odds. Sabrina, don't just stare at it, eat it. But I also think Phil Collins works best within the confines of the group, than as a solo artist, and I stress the word artist. This is Sussudio, a great, great song, a personal favorite."

I hate to do the "the book is better" thing, but seriously, the book is much better than the movie.

I'm actually a fan of all of Brett Easton Ellis' work. Someone mentioned that Patrick Bateman's brother is a character in Rules of Attraction (which also has a movie version I have not seen LINK) , but the reality is that characters from other books are always mentioned in all his novels...the guy has a very bizzare alternate reality going on in his head. He wrote his first book, Less than Zero, while he was still in college, and that was also made into a movie in the 80's LINK.

And yes, as others have mentioned, IMO he definitely killed people, all the other characters are just too self-absorbed to notice. Was some of it a hallucination (or displayed more spectacularly than it actually was)? Open to interpretation. In any case, if you liked the movie and you read at all, you should check out some of Mr. Ellis' other work. It certainly isn't for everyone, but I really find him to be the most interesting modern novelist.

lol that role was perfect for Robert Downey. He was a little TOO good at it. I dont think he had to act as much in that one as he did in some of his other roles.

One of my favorite movies of all time. Some of the quotes in this thread are great. Not a quote but one of the funniest parts is when he is banging the chick and staring at himself in the mirror and flexing Also always laugh when he is working out and he has the porn on the TV.

I started reading the book a few weeks ago and am almost done. Anyone who is a fan of the movie must read the book.

I love the introduction of himself that he gives at the start of the movie, I can do 1000 now.

I live in the American Gardens Building on W. 81st Street on the 11th floor. My name is Patrick Bateman. I'm 27 years old. I believe in taking care of myself and a balanced diet and rigorous exercise routine. In the morning if my face is a little puffy I'll put on an ice pack while doing stomach crunches. I can do 1000 now. After I remove the ice pack I use a deep pore cleanser lotion. In the shower I use a water activated gel cleanser, then a honey almond body scrub, and on the face an exfoliating gel scrub. Then I apply an herb-mint facial mask which I leave on for 10 minutes while I prepare the rest of my routine. I always use an after shave lotion with little or no alcohol, because alcohol dries your face out and makes you look older. Then moisturizer, then an anti-aging eye balm followed by a final moisturizing protective lotion.

                        Even better quote:

"I have all the characteristics of a human being: blood, flesh, skin, hair; but not a single, clear, identifiable emotion, except for greed and disgust. Something horrible is happening inside of me and I don't know why. My nightly bloodlust has overflown into my days. I feel lethal, on the verge of frenzy. I think my mask of sanity is about to slip. I love when he walks up to the ATM and starts trying to feed it a cat while the screen says "feed me stray kittens".

Movie blows me away every time I see it.

Do we really need spoiler alerts for a movie that came out EIGHT years ago?
