imo, its kinda sad that regardless of WHOM it was... just any hiphop group, they'll get that extra jump on exposure. media will eat it up and so will the consumers.. kinda weird how we work

I agree. Did anybody ever think they would see 3 6 accept an Oscar? Yea you got Eminem but he is more mainstream then 3 6 mafia.

I know I'm late w/ this and all, but Kevin Smith (Clerks, Dogma, etc) was on Opie & Anthony and they were talkin about Phillip Seymour Hoffman and about his roles & stuff. Well, he said that PSH plays one of the more convincing villans in MI:3 that he has seen in a movie in a long time (he got to see it early). So who knows, MI:3 may not be too terrible after all

Yeah, I was really upset when SILENCE OF THE LAMBS won-the nerve of them giving BEST PICTURE to a film featuring a character that eats people.

Now we have to hear gay people complain about it losing... so even more talk about it. It would have almost been better if it won.

                        Crash deserved it, imo.
Referencing SILENCE OF THE LAMBS again, a gay publication noted for "outing" homosexuals, was upset with Jodie Foster's "celebration" of her Oscar for Best Actress, because the villian (not Hannibal-Buffalo Bill) was portrayed as an effeminate, gay transvestite. The publication attemted to "out" her, but the attack was condemned by many gay people.

Stewart did a very good job and unlike other hosts he wasn't "above" the show. He blended in so well that I forgot he was the MC.

Witherspoon came close. She was about to cry at the end.

                            Re: 78th Annual Academy Awards

I thought it was a good show and congrats to all the winners. The winners weren't all my choices, but I imagine they all did good in their roles. It's hard to judge all the movies when you haven't seen them. I never saw Capote, but it comes out on DVD in a couple weeks, so that's good. I've always thought Philip Seymour Hoffman was a good actor, so I'm glad he won Best Actor. Of the other actors up for that, I only saw Heath Ledger and Joaquin Phoenix's roles. Of those two, I probably would have given the award to Ledger. Although I didn't enjoy Brokeback very much, I thought he did a very good job. Phoenix was great in a movie that I did like, but I always like to give an edge to an actor that is playing an original role.

One of the good things about the Oscars is I get a chance to see clips of lots of movies that I wasn't sure that I wanted to see. I'll be renting movies like Capote, Syriana, The Constant Gardener, and Good Night, and Good Luck. I was a little sad that Cinderella Man didn't win anything, or any of the people associated with it, it was one of my favorite movies of the year.

Of the big movies on the nominations for the big awards this year, I saw Walk the Line, Brokeback, Crash, Cinderella Man, Pride and Prejudice, and Junebug. Out of those movies, I would have given Ledger best actor, Witherspoon best actress, Giamatti best supporting actor, Williams best supporting actress, and I agreed with Crash being best film of the year out of the ones I saw in the nominating list.

That being said, some of my favorite movies of the year weren't listed like Star Wars, Cinderella Man, Batman Begins, etc, so I just watch the show to see what movies I might be missing out on and don't get too worked up on who wins.

I think this was one of the best Academy Awards shows in a very long time. They still need to shorten it by getting rid of a few of the montages and the musical numbers. At least this year's show had upsets. I'm glad to see films like Crash, and actors like Philip Seymour Hoffman, rise above the hype to gain deserved awards.
