me too, man. I think he's missing his chance to go down as one of the all-time great rappers. Nicolay is providing the classic beats, I wish Phonte wouldn't waste them singing. I think he's below average, at least when he does the whole really high pitched thing. Thats so amateur IMO.

Obviously he's the artist and can do whatever he wants but he'll have a lot of disappointed people. I was hoping he got his signing out of his system with the 80's album (which I appreciate as art but don't personally like). Again, he's the artist and should do the music for himself like he talks about on Getback. Unfortunately that may mean we get a different type of music from him from here on out. You could see his attitude towards music changing for a while now

Oh no... digging the song but has me worried a bit. I'm with you Dookie, I need 60/40 at least. Tay is way too talented of a rapper to restrict himself to just singing especially with the growth Nicolay has gotten as a producer since Connected it COULD be a legendary hip-hop album.

WTF, I'm not gonna lie I'm pretty bummed if this is what Leave it All Behind is gonna be about. Fly song, but I want rhymes not this singing ****. I have faith that there's gonna be raps despite what they're warning of keeping an open mind.

From the sounds of it, he's trying to be like RJD2 circa 2002

Look guys, I wouldn't get your hopes up with LIAB. 'Te clearly left his battle-rapping persona behind. That was evident on Getback and the mixtapes leading up to it. I don't think we'll ever get him to spit like he did on The Listening or even The Minstrel Show. Even if the ratio of singing to rapping is something like 60/40 or 50/50, it's most certainly not going to be the return of the old Phonte. It's going to be the Phonte who's much more personal in his verses.

He's grown as a person and an artist, so I guess it's up to you to take it or leave it. I can see how this new stuff wouldn't appeal to some, but I'll wait to see what he produces first.

Damn. I will be sorely disappointed if the single is indicative of the album.

I mean of course I'll "take it" and not leave it, but I'll be bummed. I don't care for Phonte the singer all that much.
