Re: Pearl Jam to play SNL April 15th
They aren't relevent anymore. They were HUGE back then, and as long as they stay together they will be huge concert draws from now until they are 80, but on the mainstream music scene, they don't mean anything(other than the hoards of bands who make careers out of trying to impersonate Vedder's vocal style). They never went the way of RHCP or Green Day to sell the albums, they kept making good rock music, the type of stuff they make just isn't popular anymore so they aren't relevent. "Save You" would have been one of the most played songs of the 90s if they had released it in 1994, but it came out in 2003 and nobody noticed. They are past their point of mainstream relevance.Originally posted by TJdaSportsGuyYou guys must've not been old enough during Pearl Jam's time at the top to realize how relevent they really were and still are as far as modern rock is concerned.
They, along with Nirvana, brought grunge rock into the main stream and changed the way rock music was looked at by everyone.
I have remained a huge fan of PJ through the years and can't wait for this SNL episode.
Don't get me wrong though, I absolutely love them and they still kick major a$$ live.
I would say there may be a small chance of seeing Free World played, why not bring out Neil Young, that would be special. I would love to see something different as well, but they are putting serious effort into helping their new label promote the new album, so I think we will get two songs off of it with some special possibly if a 3rd song is even an option. Maybe it will be since the skits suck, maybe the host will be a fan and give them a 3rd song at the end.Yeah, but I would LOVE to see them play something like "Fortunate Son" "Driven to Tears" "I Believe in Miracles" "Masters of War" "I Am a Patriot" "Rockin' in the Free World" or "Know Your Rights" in that 3rd slot.
They were awesome in that Sharon Stone skit back in '92.
And damn straight about No Code! Or Yield for that matter, I love both of those albums.Comment

Re: Pearl Jam to play SNL April 15th
Do all of the PJ fans in this thread know about bootlegs.pearljam.com?
Download all of Pearl Jam's live performances hours after the conclusion of each show. They even have stuff from the early 90's!
I downloaded a show from September's canadian tour. U2 was sidestage, so the band slips in a couple of U2 snippets in their songs, like "Bad". Then, for "Rockin in the Free World" Bono comes out and sings with Eddie. Pretty cool.
Also, if you preorder the new album from pearljam.com, they'll throw in a CD of the bands 1992 New Years eve concert in NY. Wash, Sonic Reducer, Why Go, Even Flow, Alone, Garden, Daughter, Dirty Frank, Oceans, Alive, Leash, Porch is the setlist. Not only that, but in addition to recieving the offical CD, you get to download a DRM free version of the album at 12:01 am May 2nd. Re: Pearl Jam to play SNL April 15th
The site and system is nice, but I will miss getting the physical CD sent to me from the band. Having something completely digital just isn't the same. My handwriting on a CD immediately takes away from it compared to a manufactured CD. Still, a nice system, no better way to remember a concert than having the whole thing on CD/mp3.Originally posted by SilverstringDo all of the PJ fans in this thread know about bootlegs.pearljam.com?

Because his album is already out and he's getting ready to go on tour.Originally posted by ODoggBleh..why not bring Prince back and just have him play his guitar some more
I like your idea CM. I'd love to see Neil Young come out and sing with Pearl Jam. That'd be sweet as hell.

Re: Pearl Jam to play SNL April 15th
It does seem like a longer title when you think about it. It's a great but simple song. Only three simple chords and Eddie Vedder and the gang make it great.Originally posted by larrygiterdoneyea, i thought it was longer for some reasonComment

Re: Pearl Jam to play SNL April 15th
Matt Damon should join them and they should perform a song under the band name Citizen Dick.
Or Chris Cornell could show up...
